sandrappy
The RON of AVgas and pump gas is tested altogether different and the numbers between the 2 aren't even close. 471103[/snapback] Could you explain that more? To my understanding is this is a standardized test, and yes the numbers between the two will be different because the differences from the fuel. How do they test them differently? Actually now that I think about it (trying to remember, its been a long while since I research this stuff) isn't 100LL av gas basically gauranteed atleast 100 octane but is usually like 104-106 octane? BilDaKid
So, if I read this post right, I can run avgas in my motor that's got 18cc domes and 170# of compression?? if you do run this stuff, are you required to disassembe the topend and rebuild after every season??? The other test they do is the Rich Mixture (supercharged) test. This method uses a supercharged, single-cylinder engine operated at constant speed, compression ratio, air temperature, and spark timing. The inlet manifold air pressure and the fuel-air ratio are varied. The engine is connected to a dynamometer and power output at light knocking intensity is measured for a series of fuel-air ratios running from lean to rich. Gasoline that is 100% iso octane will score 100 on that test, while 100LL scores 130. Not really much point in paying attention to that test though, cuz nobody else uses it for anything. Yama-Hoochie
So I could run 93 octane fuel straight from the pump in a stock banshee? Wouldn't that mess up the motor?

No, as long as it is stock motor and you add your premix to it.
