runs better choked...

Your running pretty lean if it runs good with the choke out (all the way or halfway?) I'd say if it runs good with the choke out halfway or all the way then you will have to up atleast 2 main jet siizes and maybe a bigger pilot. I'm running 320's in 40 degree weather 500 feet above and I don't even have porting. It's all trial and error, I just went through it. YOu may want to do a plug chop too.

Depends on your air filter setup. If you have a box and a lid, you should be ok on your main, if you have clamp on K&Ns and remove your airbox, you'd probably be better off with a 27.5 pilot and around 330 mains.

I hear the FMF like fatter pilots.

I have 330 and 27.5 in mine, no airbox and T5s.

You didn't mention if it runs better with choke out off the bottom or on top...

well heres whats going on

my dumbass jetted the bike with the slides backwards...taper towards the carbs...

so im running

k&n

310 main

stock pilot

no lid - stock box

air/fuel screw at 3.5 turns out

and the needle is set at 2nd down from blunt...

.... now at that setup it wasnt running at all with slides in correct wouldnt start at all choke wouldnt do it or nothing...but pretty good when slides were backwards...

now im set at same setup except the slides are in right and i turn the screws to 2.5 turns out...and she idles low with choke halfway out. and i took the filter off just to test it out...havent tryed it with all that on so..tommorow i guess..what shall i try tommorow.. ill have that carbs off because ive got the tors elim kit comin.....soo?? where to start to get it to run on its own so i can plugs to chop em?

so ur saying go with bigger main and pilot?

sorry for long post trying to get as much info as possible squezzed in once! later bhq

The taper on the slide is supposed to face the rear of the bike. I think you have a combination of poor jetting and out of sync carbs. once you get the TORS eliminator kit installed it will be much easier to tune the carbs correctly.

once you get it all back together run it the way you have it set up and see how she rides. if its still running better in the mid range with choke out, raise the needle a clip (move clip toward sharp end) if its running better with choke at the top then you will need to get bigger mains.

good luck. its all trial and error. if you get her running in the ball park do a plug chop to make sure your mains are on. the rest is just feeling what the bike is doing.

Put the needle back to the 3rd clip, or...stock. Normally...if you buy VForce reeds/cages, you lean the needle.

Stock cages with your mods shouldn't warrant that...

I'd go 290 mains, 1.5 out on the screws...

I think 310 is a little fat on the big end considering you still have an air box.

I just jetted my buddies on Saturday...

Bills Pipes, VForce, no lid and a K&N filter with the pro flow adapter.

Stock pilots, 1.0 to 1.5 out, 280 mains and it was ripping pretty darned good.

I also bumped his needle one to the blunt end (leaned)

I also removed his TORS...much, much easier to work on everything!!

I've got the tap in my tool box, if you wanna throw me a few bucks to cover Fed Ex shipping, I'll be happy to send you one...as long as I have your word you'll send it back.

I can send it Express Saver, Overnight or Priority Overnight...no matter...you tell me.

I just used it Saturday...worked like a champ!!!

I could sell you some jets, too...if you think you might need it.

I've got a set of just about every one of 'em, from 230's to 360's.

(I'm going to need the mid and higher 360s for meself...though...:) )

Lemme know.
