banshee tuner
I carry usually but not when riding, just don't have any reason to. I guess if I was to ride large areas and go far from the truck I might would then. I'm partly afraid I will lose my gun.
Speedie
I guess things are different out in the real world. I guess I'm the only one who has trouble riding, rather it be private land or public land. A lot of riders around here do carry. I was with a group once and we got pulled over by DNR, they wanted to know if anyone was carrying a gun, Guess someone shot some street signs. Out of 5 riders 3 were carrying. DNR check to see if any had just been fired, of course none had, and so they sent us on our way. We never talked about carrying guns, so I was surprised to see anyone else carrying. But most of the guys I ride with are x-cops and millitary. Maybe a pistol against a rilfe seems useless, but a least I can dig in and call call for help and if he tries to get closer, I have something to make him reconsider. I've been carrying a gun (legallly) for 14 years now so it's just starts to become a part of everyday life for me. But, hey I'm very glad to hear that almost all of you don't have too, because you haven't had any problems. I hate to see anyone get hurt or killed for any reason. Cotton eyed Joe
thats what i was thinking lol sounds like bad spots to ride, what if u wreck and that thing goes off? i ride wreckless so i wouldnt carry! 465594[/snapback] Thats why you only carry models of handguns that have been drop tested to the state/federal standards. korndawg
I've actually started to consider carrying a gun when I ride. Last weekend, me and some buddies were riding on what we were pretty sure was public land, when a man with a pit bull and a rifle informed us otherwise, and asked us to leave. Since I didn't figure I could get the rifle away from him quickly enough to shoot the dog we didn't argue, but I'm still fairly certain that it is public land. If I'd have had a firearm of my own, I might have been a little more likely to argue my point.

dnhyoung
I am liscensed to carry a concealed firearm, although I don't ever carry it while I am riding on the dunes, I do carry it when I am out riding in the mountains. I have run acrossed a few small pot farms, and I just turn and go the other way, but if I had to, I am glad that I would atleast be able to defend my self against any potential harm that may come from it. Now don't get me wrong, I would hope that I never would have to use a firearm wether riding or in everyday life, but if it came right down to my life or my familes vs. someone who decided to pull a gun on me. well, Let's just say that I hope I am the one that walks away from the situation. I would hate to ever think that someone would get so pissed off at me for my riding location that they would feel the need to threaten me with a gun. but what's this world coming to!! Maybe we all need a tactical atv riding course...Hopefully Not
Old Two-Smoke
I think if someone else carrying a gun freaked you and your buddies out, you should re-think carrying one yourself. That is not the reason to carry one, most gun fights happen within 3 feet. And it is because one person freaked out the other, not because of a real threat but just because the other guy pulled a gun. I have carried for years and have been confronted by others carrying as well. I dont pull it unless I am going to use it. Just because somone else is flashing his gun and telling you how life is, dosent mean your going to die. Its a good idea in my book for you to carry one , just get some real training so you dont end up being the guy that freaked out the other, and end up dead. Just my 2 cents
