Mullet Man
i'm picking up my 1st ever banshee, let alone a 2 stroke.... i'm wondering what are known problem areas that these quads in particular have? things i can do to the bike instantly for free or for cheap so some factory part/device doesnt give me headaches down the road. maintenance is something i have no trouble keeping up with. are there items most people dont need, or the motor doesnt need that can be removed that could cause issues? etc. etc.

sredish
Remove the TORS. Search = TORS Remove the snorkel on the airbox lid. If you'd like some almost free power, remove the lid and jet up a couple sizes. Get the mains from the dealer, shouldn't cost much. Drain all the coolant and replace with Engine Ice. Search = Engine Ice If it's used, replace the engine oil immediately and replace the spark plugs. Another thing you should do is get a billet airfilter clamp and new filter to use. The stocker has a bad habit of leaking. Search = Pro Design filter

(4 stroke guy). I know you must have slipped, becuase I've read your jetting post that is pinned, so it seems you know your stuff. Also, you can save some serious money if you DON'T buy a ton of spark plugs. I personally swap plugs once a season, whether it needs them or not. Unless you do a ton of riding, and some people do, and if your bike is jetted properly, there shouldn't be a need to change plugs often at all. Personally, I never had any problems with my TORS. But I did go ahead and remove it anyway. Like the others have said, you can mod your airbox, and rejet for a little more power. You could also pick up an adjustable timing plate from Ricky Stator for $35 plus shipping. After that it starts to get more expensive, reeds, water impeller, porting etc. etc. etc. etc. Good luck and welcome to BHQ Edited January 22, 2006 by 2003LimitedBanshee

sheenut05mx
If you don't replace the waterpump impeller then there is a damn good chance that it will expand and sieze aganist the case and strip the plastic drive gear. Causing your motor to overheat.

sheefreak
Most people will tell you to stick w/what you are running. Besides, at 80 to 1 it can't be much more expensive than other quality oils. I haven't seen that ugly avatar w/the Honda in it in a while. Stop back to make an appearence and get your balls busted for a wording mistake Most of us knew what you meant.....
