yamahammer_409 Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 Hey guys I searched and never really found the answer I was looking for. I am looking to upgrade my reeds. The question is which is better.... V-Force 2 V-Force 3 Boyseen Rad Valve FMF Ram Valve Duncan Racing Pyrimid Valve Stock cage Ported with a nice set of reeds Or ???? Just looking for honest opions... Thanks Guys Ryan J Quote
fastbanshee8 Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 I have ran, in the past, the following; stock ported cages with boyesen reeds, FMF Ram Valves, and now V-Force 2's. The Ram Valves were better than the stock cages, and the V-Force 2's beat both of them, hands down. Nothing beats the V-Force, IMHO. Quote
yamahammer_409 Posted January 19, 2006 Author Report Posted January 19, 2006 Another question on the same topic...before I forget. Has any one had any experience with the Duncan Pyramid? Thanks Again Ryan J Quote
FASTOYS Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 Yes and didnt like them. V force would be my recommendation. 2s or 3s but 2 are hard to find now. Quote
sandman4free Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 what didn't you like about the pyramid reed valves I just put them in both quads? Quote
yamahammer_409 Posted January 19, 2006 Author Report Posted January 19, 2006 I have no personal expereince with them........But I have down lots of research and judging by what I have seen I think they would be pretty good...That is why I started the topic. After looking at pictures I really think that the pyramid would be a good way to go. But any way I just am curious. I am just tring to figure out everyone's opion. Thanks Guys Ryan J Quote
FASTOYS Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 They LOOK cool, worked good over stock on a stock bike. But the V Force worked alittle better. Went through a couple of sets of petals in no time at all ! Called Duncan and they said "yeah , they will need to be replaced every 10 hours or so". Im out on that crap! The stock reeds never broke, the V Force never broke, all on the same motor! Better than stock ? YES Worth replacing every 10 hours or so at $50 each ? NO Just my .02 and what ive seen as an engine builder! Quote
rocketboy Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 duncan cant eve n make a good doughnut Quote
thegroup Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 duncan cant eve n make a good doughnut 462045[/snapback] that aint no shit Quote
FASTOYS Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 Now, if Krispy Cremes made reeds........Look the F**k out!! Quote
Animalman294 Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 So the V-Force 2's are not being made any more and the replacement petals are going to be available for a while, but do the 3's perform as good as the 2's? I bought the 2's a while back , but haven't installed them yet. After reading a little about the 3's I think that maybe I'll send the 2's back and get the 3's. With the new snap in design has anyone ever heard of these things failing? I heard the 2's were proven, but I have been hearing good things about the 3's. Quote
sandman4free Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 thanks for the honest reply fastoys, duncan is 10 min from the house so that just makes sense to me, but I will keep an eye on them. for what it's worth they also recomend top end service at 50 hrs I went 6 years...... Quote
FASTOYS Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 No problem sandman! It might pay to keep an extra set of stock cages or something in your tool box when you go riding. Animalman, i will trade you out a new set of 3s for your new 2s. Click on FASTOYS and give me a call if interested. Quote
yamahammer_409 Posted January 20, 2006 Author Report Posted January 20, 2006 Guys thanks for all the great and useful info. Looks like I am going with the vforce 2or3. Thanks Ryan J Quote
8buck Posted January 21, 2006 Report Posted January 21, 2006 I read the biggest differance between the V-force 2s and 3s was they had a few problems with the screws coming out and falling into the motor on the 2s. A slight re-design (locktite ) solved the problem. Anyway, if you run V-force 2s, you might want to locktite the screws. Quote
