jjfizzle51
he i was thinking about getting a +4 swing arm for the shee. my question is, is this swing arm ready to go. can i just pull everything off my old swinger and put it on this one or do i have to buy additional parts http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...Y_BIN_Stores_IT thanks for any help
fastbanshee8
You'll need to purchase a swing arm pivot bearing kit, because it's doubtful, that you can remove the ones from your old swinger, without damaging them.
jjfizzle51
where can you find a cheap one do you know? and will i need any special or semi-special tools for any of this thanks for any help Edited January 15, 2006 by jjfizzle51
Wallrat
You also need a longer chain. And if you've got any wear on your sprockets you should change those too.
fastbanshee8
You can find the bearing kit on Ebay, or contact Jeff at Fast Racing. You can PM him here, or call, 1-785-364-5325. I used a dead blow hammer, and a socket, the same size as the bearing, to put the bearings in. Just take your time, when installing the bearings. It's pretty easy and fast. Might be a good time to replace the axle bearings and seals, if they are bad.
jjfizzle51
do i need the dead blow hammer or you just used it what alternatives could i use to put it all together. and is this the pivot kit i need or no http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PIVOT-WORKS...sspagenameZWDVW thanks for any more help Edited January 15, 2006 by jjfizzle51
fastbanshee8
That's the correct kit. I use a dead blow, because it's a little more forgiving. You can use a ball pean or a claw hammer, just be very carefull, and make sure you get the bearing started straight.
Gargamel
that's the kit you can use what ever hammer you got just tap it in slow using a piece of wood to hit not the bearings. It is always a good rule of thumb to replace bearing with every new part. Keep the shee fresh and trouble free
jjfizzle51
ok thanks you guys have been a ton of help on this one. one more question is the swinger and that kit all i need and im set or am i still missing something, that i just cant take of the stock swinger oh ya do you think this swing arm is good quality from what you see ? thanks for any more help Edited January 15, 2006 by jjfizzle51
fast87
looks like above average quality to me, dont do any HUGE jumps with it and you'll be fine..my only complaint would be the chrome, where i ride and how i ride it would rust rather quickly..keep that in mine, also what condition is your chain roller in?? i'm talkin about the one that goes around the left side tube on the swingarm, you might wanna replace it while it's apart with a cascade or TM designs one(i think thats the other company..i have the cascade one), also get the best chain/sprockets you can afford, even a case saver if you got the extra 25 bucks, it's good insurance ~Mark~
brilei5
I f you need axle bearings or your carrier has any problems at all you my want to spend a little more and go with a round housing. It is a fantastic upgrade and I think QUICKSAND sells for around 500 carrier included. Just my.02 ~Brian~
RNBRAD
Why not a honda style carrier? I could probably make you a killer deal on a relatively new +4 with carrier all bearings and throw in a new DID x-ring chain for the same price your gonna pay for that set-up. Cept mine has a lifetime warranty.
mike23
round house carrier is alot better. You may also need a new rear brake line. I have a +6 and stock won't reach.
