randelator Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 (edited) well let me tell ya advance key is no good , let me explaine my self, we did a dyno run on my shee, without the key i made 56.4 hp at the wheels, and with the key in it made 55.9 hp at the wheels, and we tried it 3 time each run and with different jetting, and it make the bike run hotter 10 degre more, so for my self its not worth-it just my 2 cents, by the way sorry for my english i am french but thanks anyway Edited January 12, 2006 by randelator Quote
jmoore Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 Intersting. Maybe you should try the same test with the adjustable timing plate. Quote

helldriver Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 i'll tell you what,, i'll trade you my boost bottle for your degree key Quote
Wallrat Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 Are you 100% sure that you didn't install it backwards? It'll retard your timing just as easily as advance it. Also advancing the timing tends to lean out the engine a little, so you might have to compensate. Advanced timing isn't a scam. Its been a source for increased power in motor sports for a long ass time. Quote
2003LimitedBanshee Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 Maybe I should take the 38 degrees of total advance out of my blown '67 Nova, bet it runs better after that Like wallrat said, as long as you make other adjustments to make sure everything is in order, timing advance (to a point) is a great source of additional power in most any application. hittintrees srh Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 I dont have any dyno number to prove it, but when i added +4 timming in my shee, i deffinatly got a "seat of the pants" gain!!! i could totally tell a power differance. Quote

randelator Posted January 13, 2006 Author Report Posted January 13, 2006 first of all , i did a dyno test and the dyno dont lie anyway thats my tow cents Quote
Wallrat Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 I've seen tons of dyno runs (including my own) before and after a timing advance and yours is the only one that has lost power. So do you think that you fucked up or everyone else did? Quote

BlazinOne Posted January 22, 2006 Report Posted January 22, 2006 If it made less peak power, did it make better overall power?Did it have a better powerspread?it might have made less overall hp,but made more hp in other rpm ranges. hard to say considering the way an engine could be setup. Quote
