Ignition Problem... No Spark... Where do I start?

I had to leave my Banshee outside for a couple days during a move and it got pretty wet. I tried riding it, and it wouldn't start. There is no spark on either cylinder.

Where do I start troubleshooting? What can be most effected by moisture? That is what I was thinking would be the probable cause. Is there a way to check my ignition to ensure proper resistance?

Thanks in advance.

John

Check all the connections first. They can easily corrode enough to break the circuit. Its also the cheapest and easiest fix. I bought a boat once and got a really good deal cuz the outdrive wouldn't go up or down. I just pulled off a wire, cleaned the connector, and its worked perfect ever since.

That actually happened once before. The connection was disconnected. Of course, I checked spark plugs, adn tried starting it a million times before checking out the obvios.

i jsut fixed my buddys banshee that wasnt getting any spark, happens to be that the orange wire going to the coil was unplugged, make sure its plugged it and the black ground wire. check ur spark plug caps, make sure they are screwed into the wire nice n tight. If those are both good. then you probably jsut have a bad coil.. also check and make sure your kill siwtch is on lol not calling you dumb, but hey you enver kno haha, hope this helps..

Make sure the coil is grounded good to the frame (no rust where it bolts up) and that the ground near the regulator has a good contact.

If it worked before you parked it in the rain and it didnt after parking it in the rain I'm willing to bet that you have moisture in some or all of your connections. Go through your connections and spray a little WD-40 in there (WD displaces moisture) and then try to fire her back up. I would start there.

Have any more details on this?  I am tors ignorant?  Is there a way to check it out?

Pretty sure all you have to do is unplug the little black box under the gas tank to check it out. If that it then you can begin to remove all that B.S.

I checked my connections and pulled the coil off and cleaned the connections. I also checked for continuity to ground for the ground wire of the coil and it was good.

I checked for spark again and had a very faint spark every now and then. Is this a clue to a certain component?

Thanks for any input.

One of the best things that you can do, is get yourself a Clymer's manual.  Borrow one from a friend or buy one.  They are only about $30-$35, and it will be the best money you've spent on your Banshee.

That's one of my main problems... I have no friends right now. Well, I have no friends close by that aren't busy with their snowmobiles (although we have NO snow). I'll find a manual though, and check it out, thanks.

I'll tear it apart today and check the stator. I assume it is below the black cover on the engine. If not, I'll be checking out something else. <_<

WOW Guys! I took the stator cover off tonight and all the water came out. There is rust on the flywheel points and also pickup. I'll post pics of the nastiness when I find the USB cable for my camera. I guess my question now is... is everything salvageable or is everything shot? Thanks
