jjfizzle51
hey guys i just took the shee for a ride i mostly like to hill shoot so i have 13/41 gearing but whenever i go with my uncle or friends on hard pack its not even enjoyable to ride it i was thinking of going with a 15 tooth sprocket to give it a more 4 stroke kind of feel what do you guys think my mods are tomey t-5s, filter, jets, cool head w/19 cc domes do you think it will still have enough torque with such high gearing i do have my 14 tooth stocker that ill try but for 7-14 bucks i dont see a waste if it works well but tell me what you think thanks for any help jj
96dragbanshee
well your first problem is that when you use a 15 tooth you will lose top speed but gain acceleration leaving 4 strokers behind. Try the stock ones first before purchasing a 15 tooth.
dajogejr
well your first problem is that when you use a 15 tooth you will lose top speed but gain acceleration leaving 4 strokers behind. Try the stock ones first before purchasing a 15 tooth. 457316[/snapback] You've got that backwards. A bigger in front gives more top end and less acceleration, bigger in the rear is more acceleration and less top end...and vice versa of course. Think about a 10 speed bike...the bigger up front, the harder it is to take off...but, you're hauling once you get going....same on the rear. The large gear gets you going...but, it jumps down to the smaller sprockets as you shift gears higher.... With those mods...It might pull a 15...front sprockets are cheap...I'd get a 14 and 15... Get your flywheel shaved and an adjustable timing plate for cheap, easy and noticeable power...
Cotton eyed Joe
I just ordered a few sprockets from RMATV and the Primary Drive steel rears are cheap as hell, and so are the fronts. I think most of your front sprockets are going to be about $15 because there is alot more process involved, but you ought to buy 3-4 different sizes and try them out to see what works out on the trails. What trails are you riding btw?
locogato11283
gearing up will make it feel like less like a 4 stroke. more top speed and less acceleration. you feel you are shifting too much or what??
dajogejr
It's hard pack...so, he's probably spinning the tires. I'd suggest a 14 tooth front to smooth out the hit, and/or a better rear tire to grab. You can spend enough money to make a banshee torquey...never as much as a four stroke. But, screamin power on top is what a banshee is all about...
jjfizzle51
ya im getting way to much wheel spin and im maxing out way to early i love it when i ride in the sand but on rare occasions when i go with my uncle my bikes not even fun on the hard pack. and i dont really ride trails just open land with river trenches and ditches and stuff to cruise in so i just want something that i could stay in like 3rd and still keep the rpms up im going to just buy one i think thanks for any and all input
Old Two-Smoke
Get taller tires for your flat work. That will give you more traction and speed for the ratio your running.
Gargamel
I like a 15 for trails and 13 for sand. You can pull a 15 just fine with a stock motor. Hell I had a 15 on before pipes
banshee tuner
A 15 does great on open roads and topend riding, you wont have to shift as much and will gain some mph.
