Socrates Posted December 30, 2005 Report Share Posted December 30, 2005 Take a few pics of how it looks now and do your best to put them back the same. It always helps to lay everything out in the order it came off the shafts, or so I find. My first lower I ever did was the tranny, broke two cogs on the gears and seeing as I am no rocket scientist I would assume most anyone who can split the cases can get it back together. sheefreak Posted December 30, 2005 Report Share Posted December 30, 2005 You can just lift the two gear clusters out intact and just sit them down somewhere they won't get disturbed. Then all you'll have is the shift forks and shift fork shafts and is easy to clean from there. Then just sit the gear clusters back in their spots and you are good to go. Remember to replace all seals no matter how they look while you have it apart. It is never a bad idea to take a picture to be safe. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

FASTOYS Posted December 31, 2005 Report Share Posted December 31, 2005 Watch out for the ball and rod to come sliding out from inside of the front trans shaft and the little bearing on the left side will try and slide off. Dont loose your C clips there should be one on the crankshaft and 2 on the trans shaft one small and one big. If you get into a snag click on FASTOYS and give me a ring . I'll help ya out! Suzuki0702, if you don't have a Clymers get one! And like the others said, put the shit back on the shaft in the order it came off as soon as you get it out. Sometimes when we take something apart at the shop, we not only photograph the order something is assembled, but we will put the parts taken off back in order, and stick them together with duct tape.
