If they are bigger than that then you will be burnin up your stator. You can wire a set of DC lights into the AC wiring on the shee and get them to work, but it will get rid of the high and low beam option unless you go to a battery setup, which some people on here have done and could help you with. You would be better off to jump on ebay and get a set of banshee lights and save yourself the headache.
Ultimateduner
Yeah most likely, you would be better off with checking out ebay. Might save you some money too.
Wallrat
Well somewhere up behind the radiator you should have a couple plugs with 3 wires going into em. Green, black and I think white or yellow. Black is the ground and the other 2 are high or low beams. You just gotta splice your lighting wires into the black, and then pick one of the other wires to tie into, depending on whether u want the lights on in the low or high position. You don't wanna run more than 35w each. It won't necessarily burn up your stator, but they won't be as bright and will look very yellow if you exceed the 35w limit. I haven't tried so I don't really know. Give it a shot and see what happens.

milo_32000
This headlight issue is got me fooled also, I bought 2 automotive 4411 lights which are 12 volt and 35 watt bulbs,, didn`t think about them being 12 volt dc, glad I haven`t installed them till someone tells me wheather they are ok to use ! If anyone knows of a quick fix please post, kinda tire of buying Banshee lights ! Thanks , Milo
Wallrat
I ran a set of THESE for about a year using lower wattage bulbs with no problems. So ya you can run DC lights on an AC circuit.
fast87
that's what i did...bought a set of 15-20.00 wal mart lights, 35 watt of coarse, cut the wires after the plug and soldered black to black, then the 2 other wires from the bike to the white wire on the new light...so i can just click up the switch and they go on, without worrying about them working on only hi or lo beam...driilled a new hole in the stock mounting tabs and bolted them in, a little grinding on the aluminum lights actually but not a big deal, really easy but they looked too yellow for me, i stuck my stockers back in for the white lights and the "custom" covers i have that match everything....good luck i shoulda kept my wal mart lights on, or found some white ones instead of yellow, those new LED 35 watt lights look promising..but i havent seen em much at stores ~Mark~
GYTWYPT
U can absolutly run em. I have ran hella 500's almost 10 years now i would say. I choped the ends and put 2 prong plugs on so i could take them off and on( after I broke a few of them). Anyway I just went and looked I am only using the yellow and black wires.. BigRed350x
... So ya you can run DC lights on an AC circuit. 450341[/snapback] There you go right there. I had a set of little blue fog lights on my 87 back in the day, but I had them ghetto-rigged to get them to work. I don't really know what I did to this day. The wiring on that old thing was pretty scary. Kind of glad I don't have it around the garage any more. Good luck with your light hook-up. I'm sure if you run into some serious problems we can help you out.
kazaa187
ya i looked today at the watts of the lights they 55 watts but wen i jus hooked up one it wouldnt even work
Wallrat
Ok from our conversation in chat...you gotta bunch of wires cut from the switch. Here's what they connect to: FROM SWITCH: ( ---> means "connects to") Yellow/Red--->yellow from voltage regulator (small square metal thing under the seat in the very back, next to the taillight - look up from underneath). Regulator has a blue wire coming out of it, which meets up with a yellow wire coming from the stator. Then both of these connect to this one from the switch. Blue--->blue that goes to the tailight Yellow--->yellow going to headlight plugs On the headlight plugs, you should have green, yellow, and black for each. Connect your lights to the yellow (+) and black (ground). That should do it.

GYTWYPT
That sounds right on. I looked again I didnt even chop my wires i just crimped some ends on my two prong plug wires that would fit right into the stock harness. Like they said i dont think i have a high and low beam but who cares. As for the 55 watts you can always get Ricky Stators 200watt light output stator and be just fine. I think they are under $200 now
