porting

Recommended Posts

i was wondering what the horsepower difference would be between a 4 mil stroker motor that was ported with cpi's and a stock motor that was ported with cpi's. My bottom end went out on mine so i need to rebuild it all anyway so im lookin to give my stock motor a little more boost. Im just looking for some horsepower numbers so i can decide what i want to do for mine. And i was wondering if a 4 mil stroker is just as reliable as a stock motor. Im pretty sure that i want pipes and porting eventually and was also wondering where the best place is to get this stuff. i figure you guys are probobly the best people to talk to about this stuff and will point me in the right direction.

With simular porting styles on both engines you can expect 5-7 hp increase on 4mm engines and around 5 ft. lbs of torque increase over the simular 350 version. It can vary somewhat depending on pipes etc., but thats what Ive seen personally....Jim

Jim does outstanding work (the fella that just responded to your post, follow his link) and Jeff, "F.A.S.T." in here does great work as well. Some run Eric Gorr porting and swear by it too. Do a search on Gorr and you'll find his website. You've come to the right place.

The gorr port will give you a lot better low-mid range power. I am stepping up to cubs and a 4mm crank. I will have that built by this summer. Can't wait!

I have rode both and Gorr's will not give you alot more low-mid range power.
