cudabeen
My new stroker is slipping my clutch in 6th gear, it supposedly already has heavy duty springs in it,but they are not giving me the pressures needed to grab.I would like a lock up unit but my wallet needs a breather! The clutch looked great when i had the cases apart so i know it 's the power thats causing this.I'm lookin for info on springs that might cope, clutch pull is not a concern. ssanddemon
I had the slips with the stocker right away when my bike was new, just a few mods and shee wouldn't hold. I put in the Toomey clutch, and it's been real good, but very grabby. I am only using 4 of the Toomey springs and pull is managable, but I can't imagine the pull using all of them. Should hold any kind of power.
cudabeen
I was only trying to seat my rings when it was slippin,I can't imagine tryin to let it hangout at all,5th would hold under gradual throttle.6th was pretty bad.I was thinking 6 HD springs would get me by till i get a locker.I think I'm making 75hp or so, is it possible to prevent slipping at this power level with just springs? FASTOYS
If you were to get it to hold with "just springs " it is only a matter of time before that goes out with a good running stroker! Stock clutches with heavy springs only seem to work up to about the point your at now and may not last long. Might try a heavier set of springs if money is tight! The ones we use or some Toomeys!! locogato11283
what do ur clutch parts look like? basket, inner and outer hubs and pressure plate? are they worn? this could be the cause of ur problem..
cudabeen
All the plates looked good the inner boss is new,the basket is just starting to show a bit of wear. The new motor really sounds mean! The locker isn't to much$$ it's the mods and the down time that are required to make it all fit.But it is snowing here so I guess I should get it over and done with eh? Who has the best cover mod? I do like the clear ones they look tight!

89Steeda
I'm running 90+ Hp through a stock basket, Tusk clutch. 6 Toomey springs and a ASV lever to help lessen the pull. Made one full season in the sand.
cudabeen
Just got off the toomey link, they claim 100% more pressure than stock!?! I might give the springs a try but I'll probablly get the lockup unit as I don't see an end to the mods anytime soon
wesw
NMotion sells a 9 disc clutch kit that comes with the fibers, steels, inner hub basket and pressure plate and a pancake bearing for the adjuster. This clutch is proven to hold over 100HP with nothing else and no lock up. I have one on my 7MM Cheetah Cub and it worked perfect plus it has a light pull like a street bike to boot. Give them a call at 316-262-8900 and talk to Kevin and he will hook you up. It is expensive but worth the money. 444451[/snapback] saw that piece of equip. its a very nice thing but man its not cheap. kevin will hook you up if you want it. bring your credit card
