bladesracing
I want to start doing endurace desert races, but I've been told I need a 4 stroke anyone got any ideas of what I need to do to make my shee ready?? thanks
RATBIKE0130
A big gas tank and suspension is pretty much it. If you ride at night you might want to look into a battery setup and some HID lights. There are a couple guys that race out in the desert and they will most likely chime in with more. warwgn
same as above, but also add in longer swing arm, antivibe sterring stem, steering damper, and gear a little higher to help reduce the power band pull, your arms will thank you after about 30 miles. A good twist throttle is also a good idea if you can get used to it.
chipdog
no way. i got me a yfz450 and kept the banshee for drag racing.to much trouble now aday i put over 5 grand into the shee for desert racing and it still wasnt good enough. bought the yfz450 and all i needed was skids front to back and an exhaust system. but all in all if you got the dough then go with the flow.this was the final product.everything needed for a good desert racer. bladesracing
thanks for the ideas. I just can't imagine life with any other quad than a banshee
decon
banshee's are perfect for desert racing, although it's weak side is suspension. I looking in your profile and see you've already got the engine mods so work on the suspension. not sure if you want a longer swingarm, you would get less traction, go shorter. definately a steering stabilizer, 5 gallon ims tank, whole new front suspension +2+1 a-arms with new shocks, rebuilt rear shock, skids, etc
dawarriorman
If im right, I do believe the Banshee has won Baja more than any other quad. Now granted there really wasn't any competition during all those years, but still.
ogre03
I'm by no means an expert of any kind, but I think Upgrading your radiator would be a good idea. Someone tell me if I'm wrong, I don't want to suggest he spend his money somewhere that it's not really needed, but the cooling system is a weak point on the shee. For swingarm upgrades you can have the stock swingarm cut shorter for more traction but that's if you want to. they arent needed but would benefit for more traction. what kind of paul turner pipes do you have (mids/ hi rev)? porting type? RNBRAD
Or do a search on the Duncan Banshee in the Pont De Veu. It raced against the new 4 smokes. They said there was just no way they could match the top speed of the banshee in the straights.
