The second screw is the air mixture screw. Turn it in (clockwise), to richen up the mixture, and turn it out (counter-clockwise), to lean out the mixture. This is for your pilot, or idle jet, but it affects your mid-range and top end also. The first screw is your idle adjustment, and yes both carbs should have one. If you adjust one screw on one carb, you need to make sure the same screw on the other carb is set the same.

it says in the book that came with our 92 (mines a 90) to turn out the both of those 2nd screws the pilot air screw "2.0" turns out but theres only 1 and its on the left the 1 on the right doesnt and it looks different then to start her up and "set the tachometer(that there dern taco meter)and adjust idle speed with idle speed screw" but those but those ar on top of the throttle overide and i dont have those cuz i have a twist throt. it doesnt say anything about that 1st screw so what the hell

I think the older carbs didn't have the TORS crap, so they would have an idle adjust screw. Not sure what year they added the TORS though. Or else you have a TORS removal kit added which eliminates the TORS and adds the idle screws. If one has the screw and one doesn't you may have a missmatch of carbs from different years.

Alright, first you have to get the idle adjusted. To do this, grab a flashlight and pull the air filter out. Look inside the intake so you can see the carb slides inside. You want to adjust the slides so they are "bottomed out" or barely touching. Adjust the idle screws out to lower the carb slides and vise versa (screw no 1). Do this to both sides so each side is exactly the same. Start your shee. If the idle is too low, then turn the screws back in 1/4 turn at a time and do both side equally....Once you get the idle down, then you can ride it around and get it warmed up. Once warm, then try different air screw settings (no 2). This will effect throttle response. You should be between 1/2 turn out and 2 1/2 turns out. Find the sweet spot....
