Justintoxicated
So I went to take my wheel hubs off and I can't get that shit off. The Allen heads that attach the brake disc to the hub are onthere damn tight. I got 2 of them off but the others just stripped out It looks as if they were double dipped in loctite... Is my only hope to drill these bastages out? Also they don't wana come the spindle, just wack that shit off by hammering on the brake disc or what? I've ruined a few wrenches and a few bolt heads trying it various ways, with a hammer-wrench etc. Heat has been my only friend on that part. On getting the hub off of the spindle, I've used a puller before, and all you need to do is just get it started and it will fall right off. If you don't have a puller, use a smaller ballast hammer if you have one and tap it in steps. I wouldn't reccommend winding up and blasting it. Turn the hub 1/4 turn and give it a firm but loving smack. Repeat. If it don't come loose, then hit it a little harder.
Wallrat
Same thing here. Little bit of heat and those bolts are butter. I used a puller the first time I took mine off but the 2nd time I just used a small hammer, gave it a couple taps, turned 1/4, couple taps all the way around. Came right off. aschultz91
i had the same problem. I just took a block of wood and used a big hammer. As for taking the disk off I used allen wrenches that fit in 3/8" drive socket wrench. You really get alot of leverage and you can get a complete metric set off ebay for about 15+shipping. locogato11283
if those allen head bolts are stripped weld a bolt to them and then use a wrench to turn them out. i have had to do more than one like that even after trying to use heat.
