420_Big_Bore Posted November 22, 2005 Report Share Posted November 22, 2005 I race at beverley, which at the start line the clay is medium because the water truck usually goes over it and all the bikes dig it up. At half track to the end, the ground is quite hard, and when i took my paddles up i found that it lost traction by half track and had no more pull. So i am at the point of buying a set of tires and i need the absolute best traction tire for this condition. If anyone can help me out that would be great!! race-a-holic Posted November 22, 2005 Report Share Posted November 22, 2005 I think a set of pro-wedge 2's or 4-snows would work good for you.Air them up to about 2 or 3 lbs.That lets them be a little wider but once you hammer the throttle they will swell up like a top fueler(NHRA) tire.This will help your top end.The 4-snows I have work pretty good.If you race on a track that has good traction,then a longer swingarm or a wheelie bar might be in order. 23champ Posted November 22, 2005 Report Share Posted November 22, 2005 If you run wedges you gonna have to get a 8" wheel. 4snow offers an 8"rim and a 9" I have a set of pro wedge II, they hook like crazy on moist dirt. Malott 1 Posted November 23, 2005 Report Share Posted November 23, 2005 The smaller the rim the better. Just lower the air pressure in the tires. Think about a drag car leaving the line you can see the sidewalls on the tires twisting. When you have a large rim you don't have that much side wall since the rim is taking up alot of the area. How much psi should i put in to be safe? If i buy a 22x10x8 would i need a 10x8 rim or what would you recommend? 23champ Posted November 23, 2005 Report Share Posted November 23, 2005 you will need an 8x8 rim. 2-3psi should be enough! These tire will come out way harder on clay than a paddle tire.. Where the ground is very hard(dry) Wot about All Terrain Mud Tire? 22x12x10. They are suppose to be very good on hard paked straight line.
