STLBILL
Sounds to me like Honda built a little Fourtrax 250R into the thing...
helldriver
yeah but Yamaha has the # 1 plate in XC yamaha owns pikes peak,, with a banshee and i belive for 7 years the banshee has won pont de vaux race
rebelbanshee2
Yamaha has poop for factory backing, if you are going to make a race quad that people are going to want to race you have alittle bit of backing for it. Yamaha needs to quite goofing around
chris642
who cares, they are just stupid races. Hell, most of those guys dont even buy their own bikes.
helldriver
it seams the only guy they are really pushing is Bill Ballance with full factory support and he is owining XC for sure on a YFZ Edited November 22, 2005 by helldriver
warwgn
Yep, it would be nice to see Yamaha in more of the big name stuff like the Baja, or Paris to Dakar. I forgot about GNCC & pikes peak, we do own those for now. I am just sick up seeing honda rule Baja. Johnny Cambel has been kicking ass for a long time on the XR650. And all those honds in pro atv this year, at least they took it away from the BOMB. I would love it if Yamaha got back into the big bore bike's and put up a fight down there, And they should be able to make a serious effort with a YFZ or the new Raptor. It would be cool if they built up a banshee, but that would never happen since it is "being phased out" I would be glad to race for Yamaha on my raptor, just throw a little money in my motor and suspension and have me a pit crew and I'll do it for free!!! Meat
it seams the only guy they are really pushing is Bill Ballance with full factory support and he is owining XC for sure on a YFZ OOooo I would say "owning". Alteast not this year anyways. Ballance is a 6 times Pro GNCC champ and 2005 was only won by 27 points. Ballance had 292 points and Borich had 265. Borich\Honda will have the number 2 plate for the '06 season. Last year('04) Ballance won on a Yamaha but his previous 4 championships were all won on his Honda 250r. In fact, 2004 was the first year since the GNCC series started, way back in the mid 80s, that another manufacture besides Honda won the #1 plate. From '86 till 2003 all GNCC championships were won a 250r\250r based quad. Top ten overall GNCC Pro class quads. Honda had 5 450Rs in the top 10. Yamaha had 3 YFZ's in the top 10 Polaris had one Predator in the top 10 and Suzuki had one Z400 in the top 10 How bout this, in GNCC racing, the second highest\fastest\competitive class, one class lower than the Pros is the "Pro-Am" class. In 2005 GNCC Pro-Am class, 8 out the top 10 racers were on 450Rs, two on Yamahas. The top 3 overall Pro-Am riders were on Hondas. 2005 GNCC "4 stroke stock" class. Considered to be the premeir amaeture class and some would say the best and fasted class in the morning races(gncc races have two racing sessions, one in the morning for ameauters and one race in the afternoon for the Pros, pro-am and various A-classes). The top 3 4-stroke-stock class winners were all on 450Rs, 5 hondas in the top 10 of this class and only one Yamaha 450. That lone yamaha placed 8th overall in the class. More GNCC racing.... Overall\1st places in the Open A and 4-stroke A classes were both won with 450rs The Womens class was won on a YFZ450 this year. My hometown girl Traci Cecco won the class this year. There's no doubtin, the Honda 450 really dominated the GNCC series in 2005. You didnt see many guys GNCC racing the Honda in '04, until Chris Borich sold his Yamahas 3\4 of the way through the '04 season, switched to a Honda 450r and won the last 4 races of the season..... and finished 3rd overall, behind Yokley and Ballance. Borich's '04 wins on the Honda, sold alot of Hondas. Everyone wanted one by the end of the '04 season, guys were sick of the YFZ breaking down. Fast forward to the '05 GNCC season and the sea of blue turned into a whole lotta red. Hell most of the guys who stayed with Yamaha and Suzuki only did so because those quads have electric start. Now that the Honda comes with an electric start for '06, they're even better. FYI, All classes in the GNCC series start their race with a dead engine start. helldriver
and dont forget B. Ballance missed one race,, and raced one race with a broken leg,, and Borich still couldnt catch him and the YFZ had been updated all well Edited November 22, 2005 by helldriver
trail rider
this has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with the subject on hand, but just wanted to say that....Mr ballance lives like mebbe 10 miles from me lol..i have seen his yfz up close and its pretty tricked out with all the goods and shizzits. PUSH THE THROTTLE
I think Honda has the better riders too and that plays a major role in the wins. My .
Meat
And you shouldnt forget that Borich got one DNF at The Wisp race because he wrecked and broke his collerbone. Zero points for a DNF. He rode the last four races of the year with a healing collerbone. The Wisp was round 9 of the series this year and at that point Ballance and Borich were tied in the points. Borich lost everything this year because of the wreck at the Wisp. Ballance won the title by the 11th race of the year, mathmatically Borich couldnt get the overall with only 2 races remaining. Borich should have won it this year. The 2006 series is going to be the best ever. Im a big big GNCC fan, if you didnt notice
Meat
I think Honda has the better riders too and that plays a major role in the wins. My .02 440300 Agreed. Yamaha should have never signed Kory Ellis. Nothin against the guy, he's 100 times faster than I'll ever be, but he's not a top 3 GNC Pro guy. They need to sign on Travis Spader !!! Yamaha should have never left Natalie slip out of there hands. He's another one who switched from Yamaha to Honda and had instant success, the only differece bewteen him and Borich is that Natalie won the #1 plate. Trail rider, later on i'll post a picture of Bills '05 YFZ, its as nice as they get.
PUSH THE THROTTLE
Agreed. Yamaha should have never signed Kory Ellis. 440309 WORD, Yamaha needs to step up and put the cash on the line to make their racing name.
