420_Big_Bore Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 Hey guyz I have a 420 big bored banshee set up for drag racing but i just can't seem to get traction at take off. I live in australia and dont quite drag in sand. It's more like hard clay. I take off in 2nd, running a 15 front sprocket, 6" extended swingarm, 10x8 rear rims. I have tried paddles and it is great at take off but at mid-track its like ridin on ice, no traction. I was thinkin of maybe wider rims, but thats y i have come here to ask. Also, i am currently running pro circuit in frame pipes and want to upgrade to outta frame drag pipes. Does this give more hp? What brands are available? I'm going to buy a set of tires and i was leaning towards the MAXXIS RAZR IIs,, are these good? What would be the best tire available for drag racing on hard clay? Thanx Quote

Thanx 439121[/snapback] turf tamers for hard clay should be good. razer11s are good for loose stuff. Quote
alcoholbanshee Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 Pro wedge 2's are real good tires for hard packed. Quote
wesw Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 cut turf tamers work pretty well in hard packed dirt. pro wedges might also Quote
locogato11283 Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 i have found cut kenda knarlys work very well on hard packed dirt. Quote
420_Big_Bore Posted November 21, 2005 Author Report Posted November 21, 2005 Ok, i'll descirbe the ground. At the start line the clay is medium because the water truck usually goes over it and all the bikes dig it up. At half track to the end, the ground is quite hard, and when i took my paddles up i found that it lost traction by half track and had no more pull. Now most people have recommended the Maxxis 4-Snows. I have had a look at these and they got similar pattern to paddles.i know they will be awesome at take off but will they perform good at last half of track where it gets hard or will it loose traction like the paddles. i dont want to waste my money. (the water truck does not wet the last half of track, so it is dry hard ground) Quote
Blue Duece Posted November 21, 2005 Report Posted November 21, 2005 if all else fails you could try a shorter swing arm Quote
madkaw Posted November 22, 2005 Report Posted November 22, 2005 maybe your quad isn't pulling hard by half track because you have pro circuit pipes, drag pipes will rev alot higher and pull hard further Quote

420_Big_Bore Posted November 22, 2005 Author Report Posted November 22, 2005 Thanx for the advice. I will need to get a set of drag pipes then. Which would be the best for performance wise? Quote

420_Big_Bore Posted November 23, 2005 Author Report Posted November 23, 2005 (edited) Cool Thanx. Does anyone have any pics of banshees with CPI or Shearer drag pipes(out to frame style)? Edited November 23, 2005 by 420_Big_Bore Quote
420_Big_Bore Posted November 24, 2005 Author Report Posted November 24, 2005 NICE! Hey i also got a 3hole rear strut on my suspension, which would be the best to drag? Lowest? When i put it on the lowest and i sit on it it is very close to the ground. I just need traction. Quote
