Shitcan the airbox!  Air filter and all.  Then get 2 K&N pods and slap them straight onto the carbs.  Much cleaner look

I guess one will fall off if you install with bubble gum. Same chance of an A arm comming off. The filters weigh like 8 ounces. They are clamped onto the carbs. How the hell would one fall off? Same shit holds on a K&N inside the airbox.

I agree with bansh it gives a much cleaner look and better air flow. When you clamp them on really tighten them though and you never really have to worry about it.

I didn't have them on my shee but I did have one wiggle off my street bike. To make sure it don't happen again I put a small bit of silicone around it put in on and let dry overnight. Haven't had one come off since.

It's not the same as in the air box. The airbox is mounted to frame don't move much, the K&N's clamped to the carbs wiggle, bounce, vibrate a hell of alot more.

I've been using a pro flow and it's nice and all, but where I live the temps range from -10 to 100 degrees and I have to rejet 4 times a year {summer, winter, fall, spring}. It's a real pain in the ass to rejet with the proflow on. Lately I've been using k+n pods with wraps. Real simple to rejet the carbs. They are light as a feather, I can't see how one would fall or vibrate off unless the clamp wasn't tight enough, which is the fault of the installer, not the filter.

I run a K&n in the airbox with an outerwear on my banshee (gonna get the K&N airbox lid for it too.)

I run a 39mm inlet 4inch by 6 inch K&N with a pantyhose prefilter on my 87 suzuki for the 39 PJ (the outerwear fell off and the pantyhose work great!)

I also run a stock style K&N with a hacked up air box on my 85 Suzuki (no prefilter)

Just for shits and grins i went from stock airbox and K&N to 5 inch clamp ons with outerwears at the drag strip and only gained .009 sec and .2 mph (cut a .516 on the tree too.)

If you have airbox and K&N leave it be. If ease of maintenance is your primary worry get the clamp on's. Depends on the riding you are goin to do.

What do you want?

It might be rare, but Ive found a random pod laying in the sand once or twice.

I have HUGE pods and mine seem to hang on just fine.. just camp em' on real tight.

the stock carb pod is on the right, the other one is for my 36mm Lectrons. HELL YEA!!!
