Wassup350
Ok i got a friggan ticket tonight. It was in my friends sports car and i was only doing 43 in a 30 going into town and slowing down. Now I was wondering how many of you think that, its an unreasonable ticket. the cop was a dick by the way, ive gotten tickets before and cops are never that dickheadish. I just talked to this chick and she says that i was going too fast when i think that 43 aint too bad. I'm pissed
rjvoight
Most cops around here give 10-15mph window. Typically, if you dont break the 10mph mark you are good to go and most give 15 unless you are in a residential area with kids and stuff. Regardless, cops should be professional whatever decision they make. RJV
Bigairee
give or take, plus or minus, blah blah blah. The posted speed limit is the law. I'm not all high and mighty. I break the speed laws too. When I do get caught I am willing to pay the fine. If it bothers you getting caught then you shouldn't speed. I'm not even saying it is ok for the cop to be a di#(. If you want to do the crime do the time(or fine).
ogre03
I tend to drive a little over, but when you are talking about a 30mph zone, there is usually a reason, I.E. resedential etc. I can't say they are wrong for catching you however, they should never be a "d*ck" about things. Their job requires them to be mature and indifferent, however some, power trip d*ck heads can really get to you. I've delt with cops that are as* holes about stuff and I feel for you there. rebelbanshee2
13 over in a 30 is alot. I think 13 over anywhere is pushing it too. I know what you saying about dick cops though. Some of them can just be unneccisarily rude. Dosnt make for a good image for the others.
dalegoldston
You get what you deserve. Going almost 50% over the posted speed limit is too much. But all in all everyone speeds you just got cought.
350TwinDeathBed
Same thing happened to me this past Friday in NY. Cop had been following me for a bit, so he racked up five things that he could bust me with: 64 in a 45, lane changes without signaling (2x I think), no signal with lots of traffic is endangerment I think and tailgating on a couple occasions. He said the five tickets would have run me 14 points and lost my license. I talked to him and was really polite with him, which is what you need to do, and he ended up giving me two tickets: 64 in a 45, and one signal change for a total of 7 points. Guy was nice, there's no doubt about that, I just fucked up. I voted "This topic is stupid" because I was going to do the same thing when it happened, but I realized that it would be pointless and you just have to live with these kinds of mistakes. The 200 bucks spent on tickets will be a nice addition to my Banshee.
STLBILL
No good choice for me. The voting choices look like they were selected by the person who did the crime and received the ticket... I mean there is nothing in there about "People who drive sportscars are naturally wreckless", but you provide us with an avenue to make the same grossly incorrect assumption about all law enforcement officers. Chances are you could have been coming into a town that is notorious for being a speed trap. There are many - all over. When I lived in Arkansas it was illegal for a community to gain more than a certain percentage of their revenue from such situations. However, if you live in such a state they probably will tear up all the tickets issued to soccer moms in mini-vans, even call them personally and tell them not to appear, just to make budget room for the sports cars. This is no different then the guy who writes about running from the police on his Banshee only to be caught and have it impounded. If you do the crime chances are you're going to do the time. Well, unless you're initials are O.J. or M.J. -Bill

I'm pissed 436347[/snapback] Here, +10 gets you a ticket with points. +9 +5 just gets you a warning, and I've never known someone to get pulled over for going 5 over. Depending on traffic though, sometimes they let the freeway go +15 over, but during peak revenue...er...I mean during peak holiday traffic they bust everyone left and right for whatever. BigRed350x
I am so glad I live in a state that doesn't deal with that point bullshit. That's gotta suck. haha
Gargamel
If it's posted 30 then do 30. It is a law, not a guide line like most think. 13 over will get you a ticket here (WA) everytime as it should. The only time a cop should be a dick to speeders is in residental streets with kids playing. Then they should be able to hit you one over with there night stick. But other places they should just call you a dumbass and just write the ticket.
y2kbanshee9187
I would expect to get a ticket doing 13mph over anywhere.... and yes, lots of cops are dicks.....
dune_girl
i remember whenever i was in high school.....i was a freakin speed demon... i got pulled over several times and somehow managed to get away with no speeding tickets...including a warning for an 86 in a 55 I finally got my first speeding ticket last summer from a state trooper...70 in a 55...now i work with that trooper and will never let him live down the fact that he wrote me that ticket...but its all a joke bc i deserved the ticket...they post the speed limits for a reason.. but i can say since i've started working at the sheriffs dept. i've only been pulled over twice...i've slowed down a lot ...dont really want to push my luck....i think the 2 warnings i've gotten is enough...3rd times a charm right..
