RHINO
What's up guys. My friend found a Banshee fairly close to us and he is going to look at it on Monday and I might be going with him..I wondered if you could give me some info to help him choose a solid machine that's been well taken care of. What I need to know is the stock compression for an 03 model Banshee, and I also recall seeing a list on here of some particulars to check over before making a purchase, such as bushings and whatnot. I appreciate your help. Thanks in advance.
sand rocket
what is the altitude? I would check to see it both cylinders are close to each other as far as compresion.
RHINO
I don't know about the actual altitude, but I'm in SE Ontario,Canada.. He might not even take a compression tester, but it'd be nice to know the factory specs just incase.

Cotton eyed Joe
Check for signs of rust. Be particular, and inspect to see if the source of rust is from a bend. Look at it from a bit of a distance to see if it sits right. The front wheels almost never line up with the rear wheels, so don't worry if it looks like the front end is pushed to the left about 4". Pick up and drop the bike, listen for a clunking noise. Worn bushings will make it clunk. Compress the suspension and check for a good dampner and good rebound. Ask the owner to start it. Don't ask to ride it, just ask to see it start, and hear it run. Listen for a clunking water pump impeller while you're there.
RHINO
Thanks for the great info. I'll make a list and give it to him incase I can't make it out there with him.
Wallrat
Grab the wheels at the top and push/pull to check for worn bushings up front, and stripped splines in the rear. Hard to tell on the rear but never hurts to check. If he's got shock covers, pull em off and pick up/compress the shocks. Look at the air filter, if its dirty as hell this guy probably didn't take very good care of it. Really check the radiator, see how jacked it is. If its one solid block of metal and he never bothered trying to straighten the fins I'd pass. Crawl all around it and look for missing bolts. I'd overlook maybe 1, but more than that I'd pass. RHINO
I couldn't make it up there with him today but he should be back soon and he's gonna let me know if he bought it or not. I hope he did.. It's an 03 LE Yellow and Black.
Justintoxicated
you can usualy hear the water pump impeller though, t's kinda noisy with the bike at idle...they all make some noise in my experience.
