Dinner
Hey everyone, i have a 87 shee, just got new top end put in...and the top end it great, but i think my left carb's jetting is wrong because when it idles, the left side isnt as strong, and lots of smoke..and once i give it throttle, it shoots out a lot of oil...so is my left carb off on the jetting?..thanks in advance Mods: Boyesen Reeds, K&N Filter, DG Pipes, Stock Silencers, Boost Bottle 912 ft/ 278 m above sea level...not sure what main jet is in it right now...i live around London, Ontario...right now the temperature is around 0-5 degree's right now...and main pilot jet do you think i should get for this temp, elevation, mods?...thanks everyone Edited November 10, 2005 by Dinner
Justintoxicated
Did you mess with the crank? Why Did your topend go? Maybe you have a bad seal on your crank and are suckig in tranny oil. Maybe this is why you needed a new topend to begin with?
Wallrat
Either that or your carbs are way out of sync.
kenr74
I'm voting for left side crank seal.
PUSH THE THROTTLE
I'm voting for left side crank seal. 435770[/snapback] Maybe I'm missing something but wouldn't you only get tranny oil from the right side while sitting on it? The left side seal is behind the stator which is dry and the right side is behind the clutch which is wet. Clean your carbs, sync your carbs, throw in new plugs and check for air leaks. Dinner
Yes i just had the top-end re-done...carbs are in sync..took them apart tonight and noticed that the left side float goes higher than the right..would this matter ...and the right side runs strong and awesome...and the left side will start and idle fine, but the longer it idles the more oil builds up, and once you give it gas, it sprays oil(oil doesnt smell like transmission oil)...and i swtiched spark plug wires and nothing happened How would i check for air leak, get some ethier, have it idling and spray it around where air could get in?...thanks everyone Edited November 11, 2005 by Dinner
Wallrat
Try to adjust the left side float to match the right and see if that fixes your problem.

I had the same problem with my bike and I run the CV setup so I know if wasn't the carb. Left side wasn't firing every time so I was spitting out oil/gas and smoking. Replaced the left side crank seal and was back to normal.
