Flaminchiten Posted November 9, 2005 Report Share Posted November 9, 2005 I just purchased a 99 banshee for 1k off a friend of mine who just wanted to get rid of it since he just bought a Raptor 700R and a Bombardier 800 Max. This is my first 2 stroke, my other bike is a 05 WR450F. The bike is bone stock for now and this winter I was planning on a few upgrades. I know for sure the clutch needs to be replaced and the brakes are pretty worn. The bike will see 50/50 riding between dunes and trails. I will ride it on dunes and prolly my bro or girlfriend will ride it on trails with me on my WR. Here is the plan so far. FAST read about this on the site here and everyone seems to agree it is the best. (how much do theses usually end up costing?) Toomey T6's These seem to offer the best performance for what I'm looking for, mix between top end and mid range. And a NOSS head with stock domes or one size smaller to raise the compression. Not sure if its worth doing the head if I put in the stock size domes. Those are my plans for this winter, what kind of performance can expect? Wallrat Posted November 9, 2005 Report Share Posted November 9, 2005 Do pipes and the filter first, maybe advance the timing, then I'd turn my attention to the suspension. After that, look into porting. Without porting you won't be able to beat the 450 in a drag - dunno about the 700r, but you will be able to keep up just fine around the dunes. THE SHEE WILL NEED MORE THEN THE 450 WILL!!!... I BEEN THERE... PIPES, FILTER, V FORCE, NOSS HEAD, AND A PORT WITH TOP END SINCE THE V FORCE AND A TIMING PLATE BRING THE BOTTOM END POWER.. What is needed for a "port" do I need to take my cylinders off and send them to someone? Who would be a good company to go to for this? I am in Oregon would prefer someone local. How much does something like this cost? I have read that the T5's seem to respond better to a port, if so this may be a better route than the T6's. You will have to pull your cylinders off and send them out to be ported. Porting ranges anywhere from $200.00 up for most places including us!! The T5s would be my choice if your gonna port it.
