DIRTMAN350
Hi, Is it nessacary to use the supplied nuts and washers that come with my noss head? I couldn't use them due to the fact that my head studs stick up a little bit too far. I used my stock nuts over. Haven't rode it yet but i hope coolant does not wick up around the studs. Latter and ride safe.
dawarriorman
O-rings seal around the studs. You can use the stock nuts, I do.
dlnoss
You don't have to use the acorn nuts. Sometimes they do bottom out on the studs. I guess the studs aren't always the same length. I'm looking for some different ones that are deeper but haven't had any luck yet. If anyone has a source for stainless metric acorn nuts, let me know. Put a little RTV on the threads if you have any coolant pushing up through the studs.
dawarriorman
dlnoss, Let me know the thread pitch and diameter, and how tall you want them, theres a place near me (Augusta GA) that might have them. They've had some stuff that I could have sworn I wouldn't be able find anywhere else.

dlnoss
dawarriorman, Thanks. They are 8mm X 1.25 pitch. I'd like them to have about 15mm thread depth. I buy them 1000 at a time. RNBRAD, Thanks, I'll call them tomorrow. I can't navigate their site.
dawarriorman
Ok, called them up today, and they do have some, but they're only 3/16" deep. The guy I talked to wasn't sure if they could order anything different, but I think they would be able to at that quantity. He said they order 100 at a time (acorn nuts aren't a big seller), and they would be about $20 per 100. Their number is 1-800-476-BOLT (2658).
