4mil stroker motors

I am thinking of getting Odeans 4 mil setup. I would still have to get a crank either done or find one somebody wants to sell. Also would need to get a coolhead to go with the domes he has. So I know all together I would be in it probably 1K. Kinda seams like for that kind of money I could do a cub but then realised that is just for the cylinders. I would still need everything else.

Thing is I want a reliable motor and would like to know if there is constant issues with a 4 mil or not? I beleive in doing things right so I wont be half a$$'n it on the install or anything. So what suggestions and experiences do you all have with them?

A few other quick questions:

What would a set of perfect stock cylinders and a .30 shaved stock head sell for approx? Just wondering so I can see the total financial picture.

Would you still do a timing plate for the stroker as well as lightening the flywheel?

Just dont want to be :flush: when this is all said and done.

your lookin at over a thousand to set up a cub for just the topend part alone and that doesnt include the crank or head . a h129 4mill stroker crank can be bought for 450$ and youll be ripping . down the road if yo u want a cheetah stroker cub you can just swap out the jugs . expect like 250$ -300 for your old cylinders and youll get some decent money for the stock crank sale too of coarse . cheap hp iMO :bolt::cheers:

Timing advance is still a good mod, as is the lightenned flywheel. I'm not familiar with the setup you're looking at purchasing but keep in mind the other stuff you'll need.

h129 crank

795 series pistons

New Carbs

filters

intakes

reeds

porting

3 HD clutch springs

pipes if u don't already have em

gaskets and seals

H129 crank is a hotrods 4mm crank with a 5mm long rod. It comes from the manufacturer welded. The best place to buy is from eBay, but make sure you contact the seller and verify the model number. They make a long rod crank that is still the stock stroke (H111 I think), which you don't want. I think you can get the 4mm for 430 from

I know someone that has bought from VIP and has had no problems with them.

watch the welds on the hot rods cranks, guys over on planet sand have had a bunch of the crank welds break and pull apart!! I know this for a fact cause mine just did it the other day! I would recamend having someone that knows how to tig weld go over the factory welds just to be safe.

as far as power per dollar spent you cant beat the cheetah cubs, I would not go back for nothing

Well guys the transaction is DONE. Bought Odaens set-up. Got dune/play ported cylinders by Redline, 795 pistons and rings, and 3 pairs of domes milled for the 4 mil stroker. I am pumped about this other than having to explain later why I will need another $450 to buy a crank to the wife but hey its easier to ask for forgiveness than permission right!!

I already have FMF Fatty gold's. Odaen was running it on the stock carbs with excellent results so I am going to try that first. Already have the filters for them. I have the boysen reeds in it now but if I am not happy with the peformance I will get a set of the V-force 3's. I will get the timing plate and the flywheel done before i put her back together. What springs do you suggest? Are they necessary or only if you need em?

Is a +4 swinger going to be nough for this motor? I weigh 270 so I am thinking it will.

Wallrat, love the avatar bur it sure is distracting!

Run 3 toomey springs in the clutch and you'll be fine. I put my used clutch back in it and ran it all year wihtout a problem. I run a +4 swingarm on it now, and it's fine. I'm confident you'll be pleased with your 4mm when you get it back together.
