Gargamel
It's like $24.99 month and you get free long distance to USA, Canada, P.R. Now I pay like $35 and don't even get caller id. It sounds good but is it? So anyone using it?? Are you happy with it?? Thanks in advance I'm always looking to save a buck.

Brooke
I use vonage, i needed a second line for work since i work from home. i love it, and you cant beat the price and free long distance, caller id, and you can have your voicemails emailed to you as audio files, which is like heaven for me when im on the go with my laptop. just keep in mind, if your power or cable/dsl goes out, so does your phone. thats an issue for me every once in a while, but im in backwoods maine where we probably experience power outages and shotty cable service more often than most. even that isnt that big a deal since people can at least still leave you voicemails. all in all, you really cant beat it. STLBILL
I use Vonage and love every bit of it. Especially the $15 a month for 500 minutes anyplace in the country. I need high-speed Internet so I don't count that cost toward my phone bill. A couple of notes: 1. If moving your number from a legacy phone company expect it to take a while. The phone companies know your number is important. They have to move it. They don't have to be quick about it. Be prepared to file a complaint with your state's phone regulatory agency - then they jump on it extremely fast. Note however if you want to move back Vonage may not be bound by the same regulatory agency. 2. You will get more disconnects and such then before. Voice over IP is a new technology. There is something out there called SPIT - spam on intenet telephony. However, I've never once seen it on my Vonage system. Your high-speed Internet will probably go down when the power goes out. Don't expect to use 911 when the power goes out for this reason. 911 has some more limitations than with a regular phone company. You might even have to tell the 911 operator your address when calling in an emergency (be prepared to say your address when a murderer breaks in). 3. Everything else is E-X-C-E-L-L-E-N-T! The voice quality is louder/clearer. The price is cheaper. You can even take your router with you to another place with high-speed Internet and your phone goes with you. The !@#$# coolest feature that just plain messes with people's minds is the thing that rings your up to five phones with your home number. For example, I program my cell phone in. My cell phone literally works like a cordless phone. I only have to give out one number. People call my home number and it rings all my other phones - at the exact same time! Let me know if you have any other questions. I can say only great things about Vonage. -Bill

STLBILL
A lot of my friends have said the name is funny. They liken it to bondage. Maybe that says something about my friends?
rebelbanshee2
We have Lingo. It is only 19.99 a month and has caller ID call waiting, free calling in North America, and Western Europe. It had some troulbe at first with not always working, but they have made quantum leaps and it works nearly flawlessly now. The phone company took so long to switch over the number we just said screw it and went with another one. We run it off DSL, its kinda funny the phone line comes it hooks to the modem, comes Ethernet cable comes out, goes into another modem and a phone line comes out
Screamin_Demon
I'm getting ready to switch to Vonage myself. Only thing is they don't offer numbers for Montana... so we're going to go with one from Oklahoma, that way family can calls us and it doesn't cost them long distance. Only issue with that is that if anyone from Montana calls us, they get charged long distance. Enter the cell phones, which we already have, with local numbers. We wanted to be able to get in touch with each other easier and be able to call for help if we're stranded in the snow somewhere. We know one couple that has it already, but they use an Arizona number I believe. They're happy as can be with the service.
Gargamel
thanks for the info sounds like the switch will happen. Are cable here is pretty good it has not gone down in over a year and the time it did was when they were switching from att to comcast so not worried about that. again thanks, you all rock Jeremy
