bkabina
Jim from Passion can set you up with what you need.He ported my 4 mill stock cylinders for drag racing,I am very pleased with them.We run 500ft. and I left Pop's run it last night and he laid down a best time of 5.8. I don't know what it equals out to in 300ft but I'm sure it is respectable for a 390cc motor on gas.
8buck
Whats involved with a port job and will there be a substantial power increase? 421157 There is a lot involved! I was going to attempt it myself untill I saw this. VERY interesting 2stroke stuff on here. http://www.macdizzy.com/thread_spread.htm Edited October 2, 2005 by 8buck
broke
If you want a real answer, call Trinity and get a quote and real answers and less crap. 421590 Hahaha, there's a good one. Real answers like, why does an MX port on a Cheetah jug cost $450 dollars? Why does a Cheetah jug have welding flash in one of the cylinder bolt holes when it's a cast piece? Why does an unported Cheetah jug have a bigger exhaust port than the $450 ported jug? If you want real answers stay the hell away from Trinity. Sorry Rocketpig, you are the only good thing I have seen out of Trinity in a long time.

kartracer92
Oliver Well you got the typical /responce answers from some of the rgulars when you asked a porting question. Some bullshit half cocked answer. I do not come on here often but everytime I do there is usally someone has posted a porting question like yourself to get an ugly answer and to made an ass out of. This site seems to breed users that think porting is "wizardrey & secret" and that the only time you can get good advice is less you a builder and have an INC after your name and are a pro builder. Someone above gave you a link to Macdizzy, great guy & site and has ten times the ammount of usable information and people capable of giving a good solid answer. This site is free of do -it -yourself educated members and do little about educating themselvs and others as far as motor wise. For you guys that give a good /solid reasonable answer with the best of your knowledge please not be offended Jeff
BansheeBrian
Not a useless post.I think it's great that someone is looking into porting.I could tell someone to use search on every topic there is because it has been discussed in the past.Even if someone new with 6 posts wanted to know how to gap a plug I would take the time to tell them. Why the hell not? That same inexperienced newbie in one or two years with some HQ gained knowledge is running faster times than most of us.I've seen it. rocketboy
Oliver Well you got the typical /responce answers from some of the rgulars when you asked a porting question. Some bullshit half cocked answer. its not easy to explain 2 stroke porting and theres so many variables and theorys behind it that the porting really needs to be done by an expert to wring each drop of power out of a cylinder ,port mapping and squish band /dome/timing/ fuel choice configurations have to all be taken in account for ,so its pretty impossible to write up that kind of experiance and knowledge into a post to ansewer these types of questions, instead it makes more sense to dierect a person to a known engine builder with a good reputation and power results,if yo uwere any kind of engine builder youd probably understand these concepts . fiveOnick
All you need to do is find someone in the prime years of porting, extreme newcomers dont have the equipment, and often lack the experience to formulate theories or sometime even understand theorys. People who have been doing it for too long often have the tendancy to settle or become set in their ways and dont learn anymore when the truth is you should always continue learning. When you think you know it all branch off into a new question or theory. I have been doing it for over three years and I can tell you I think I learn something new or think about something different each week. Its also amazing how much cleaner work I can do now just from leaning the tool inside and out, remember its all free hand so it kind of an art with a whole lot of understanding and theorys. Just remember no one single person is right about everything. Definately steer away from large companies when it comes to portwork I will drop that hint.
