ozbanshee
why don't you acid dip them and polish the alloy. You get better heat transfer if they are unpainted all the paint will do is hold in heat, they look cool all polished up
blackandyellowshee
Would it be possible to polish a stock head up? How about the cylinder? Would you have to do anything first or could you just polish them? Thanks Darren
stclark816
Would it be possible to polish a stock head up? How about the cylinder? Would you have to do anything first or could you just polish them? ThanksDarren 421961[/snapback] Youd have to get all the black paint off them then do the several stages of polishing... Pain in the ass. And then itll be a bitch to keep them shining..

Justintoxicated
pics of me cleaning her up...Lots of work to do this month. Here is the metalcast on cylinders, and metalcast undercoat with metalcast red on top for covers. Looks better with mroe sunlight (sun was setting) (THis is the metalcast with the ground coat also, compleatly different effect but boy is this a nice dark red and it sure sparkles anyways.) odaen
I'd be hugely surprised if polished cylinders dissipated heat better than painted or powdercoated ones. The cylinders main cooling mechanism is the water. The temp of the water is going to be the gating factor in how hot the cylinders get. On top of that, simply painting soemthing black will make it dissipate heat better. Someone educated in physics can explain it. Here's a link to my cylinders fresh from getting powdercoated. http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=52323
