MonkeyBoy
Those are horrible pictures. Look at the steels for burn marks or discoloration. If there is none, reinstall and readjust the clutch.

98bonerSTOCKshee
here are my plate that I took out over the weekend. the one on the left are burnt while the ones on the right appear to be good. The left side was closest to the motor they burnt the worst. The friction plates looked alright but 1 or 2 near the motor side. I just got done rebuilding the motor, the cable was worn not allowing me to get it adjusted right, I think that's why it burnt.. hope this helps... ps those new pics you have it does look like the friction plates are smooth as a babies ass.. I say change them.. Edited September 20, 2005 by 98bonerSTOCKshee

tOj
If it was a brand new clutch 3 rides ago, maybe you should have tried to 'break it in' a little bit or something, not go crazy and just drop it all the time. Like you said all you were doing is burnouts and drag racing and dropping the clutch, that's alot of wear on a brand new clutch. Maybe you should have done an hour or so of going slow, going thru the gears, breaking everything in. Did you soak the clutch plates in oil over night before you installed them? Not trying to start a pissing match you asked for our 2 cents. Also what type of oil were you running the crankcase? and how much. Were all the springs and center adjuster all down to spec? tOj
I think by balanced he means, the metals inbetween the fibers, the round part sticking out-they have to be evenly distributed in a circular fashion.
FOXBANSHEE30
That still doesent make sense. I need a lil more detail b/c i have a cluth on the way. Thanks. MEADOWS. <<<CWB>>>
hamuel
im just going to note that that isn't completly true to all clutchs. I installed a barnettee clutch this last year and none of the steels where different in anyway. balanced or need to be installed in any real order. Only clutchs that need to steels offset are the oem ones, i do beleave.
