jeepman137
ok, now my mods are in my singature, and i just bought a timing degree key from k&k for $20, and im just wondering if its a good idea to do +4 advance at this time, or will i have to run race fuel... the guy i ride with says i will be fine, but i dont want to chance anything, i havent done a compression check, so i dont know, im a little above sea level also.. thanks in advance chris
dajogejr
Do yourself a favor...leave that key in the package, and take it back. For 20 bucks, you still have to remove your flywheel to replace the key. For about 42 bucks with shipping, you can get an adjustable timing plate from Ricky Stator, that has 0% chance of ever shearing and ruining a riding trip... You will be fine with Premium pump gas... If you shave the head...or get a Coolhead or Noss head and smaller domes than you might have to up the octane. Mine runs great with 92 to 94 octane gas...all day long. Here's that timing plate: http://www.rickystator.com/pages/Yamaha_Ba...ming_plate.html D'oh...just re-read your post. How much does that GYT advance your timing? You might have to go +2... You're only slightly above stock on the dome. Dave Noss is a great guy...you might want to PM him with your specs and see what he says about race gas. You MIGHT have to run a mix (25 to 50% race to pump) depending on how much that ignition advances it... jeepman137
too late, already took it out... but i can easily sell the thing, a buddy wants it, so i'll just give it to him for $15 i guess... i was planning on running +4, but i dont want to run race fuel, its enough to premix fuel, dont want to mix race fuel and pump, plus that gets too expensive, and i trail ride and field ride mostly, so i just figured the advance would make it a bit peppier... FOXBANSHEE30
u shouldnt have to run race gas for a timing advance. Maybe go up one size on the main but that should be it. Advancing the timing doesent mess with ur compression. Just my $.02. MEADOWS. <<<CWB>>>
Rescuejeff
I run a +4 setting on my Ricky Stator with a mix of 100 low lead AV gas and pump with slightly more than normal mix in the gas, I run the fuel mix 50/50.
dajogejr
Double check with DLNoss...it's his head. But, I think you're wasting your money on race gas for that. Premium pump gas should be fine.
