Banshee Engine in YFZ Frame

I have a YFZ frame that we want to stick a banshee engine in. Some dumb fuck took my yfz out without my permission whe i went into town to meet someone and blew the engine all to hell. Unless I can find a new YFZ engine to put in it I want to put a banshee engine in the frame. The engine is totally fucked. The oil plug came out of it and he rode it with no oil and ruined pretty much the entire engine. The bike was already on its way to a rebuild so I'm not really all that upset about it. I am looking for a new 450 engine to put in it or a good strong banshee engine to put in the frame. If anyone has either of those, pm me please. I have two streetbike motors, but don't want to make this one a drag or hill-shooter bike. I might also consider selling the rolling chasis with everything but the engine. I would give you the blown one if you wanted it with it. So if you are interested in a yfz rolling chassis or have a banshee/450 engine let me know.

I was actually going to contact you about this project. You seem to have the most experience with this sort of thing around here. Have you ever considered doing an outside project for someone? One of the big problems I was thinking about would be the pipes hitting the radiator. I would prefer some kind of in-frame pipes as opposed to out of frame drag pipes. Not sure how the routing would go. Fabricating engine mounts won't be too hard.

I really want to put a banshee motor in there instead of a new 450. I like the two-stroke hit. I am thinking about a 4mil stroker. I do a lot of trail-type riding and go to the walden dunes a lot. I don't really do too much drag racing. Lots of hills and straights though. All of our property on our ranch is pretty much wide open stuff.

Let me know what kinda ideas you have or any issues you've thought of on this sorta thing. I can get an older banshee (mid 90's) for pretty cheap. Plus it would give me a second frame I could stick the streetbike engines in.

Thanks! :notworthy:

When I finially find out what I am going to do with this project I will let you know. I am leaning more towards the banshee engine so I could probably let you have it. I am also thinking about the Stroker kits that are out for the 450 engine right now. If I don't decide to do that I could probably make you a deal on the blown 450 engine. You should know that it would already be in pieces more than likely. You wouldn't be getting a complete engine all together. It's already been tore down to see what happened to it.

That would be friggen awesome if you could build it for me.  Besides my welding aint so great so it would probably fall apart the first time I jumped it.  I am in Wyoming, south-east corner.  I will keep you updated with what happens with it.

I picked up the tore apart engine from the dealer today. (they tore it down to find all the problems.) There is WAY too much crap in that little engine for me to try and fix myself. I can tell you right now it definitely needs a cylinder, piston, cam chain, and crank. Probably other stuff. I can tell just by looking at that stuff it is screwed to the point I don't want to mess with it. I was considering the 502cc bore/stroker kit as well. I like the banshee engine simplicity and power a lot more though. Right now I am leaning towards putting the banshee engine in that frame. I probably won't get started on anything until the end of October at the soonest. I need to save some money up for whatever I do decide to do with it.

Loco...

I am leaning towards putting the banshee engine in there. It will take me a little time to gather up all the parts & everything I will need to do it though. I probably won't have the money I will need for a project like this until October or November some time. I want to have everything together before I starting trying to put anything in that rolling chassis. I want to have a complete shee engine built with all the stuff on the side I will need, ready to go. Right now I am on the lookout for a Good late 90's banshee engine, I plan on getting a set of ported cubs with a 4mm crank, noss head, carbs, and CPI or Rocket pipes, some kind of heavy duty clutch, and all the other typical goodies. If I am going to do this, I want the thing to want to take off if I put wings on it. :headbang: I will keep in touch on the progress of my parts gathering. I have a lot of stuff I need to pay off before I undertake this project (fix trans in my truck, pay off student loans, monthly rent, pay off credit bills, etc) Should only take me a month or two to get everything paid off with my new job. After that I will be saving and shopping for parts for this project.

Any suggestions on particular parts I should try and get?

I might have to come down there and meet up with you some time to check out the bikes you've modded up. I might have to hire you to help me out with this. :) I was figuring around there for all the stupid little crap I would end up needing. cables, metal for mounting fabrication, beer...

I was looking at that frame today (without the engine in it) and it has a shit-ton of room that you could stuff a shee engine in with. The mounting tabs for the 450 engine don't look like they would be too hard to match up for a banshee engine. pipe routing is my biggest fear at this point. Once I build the shee engine I want in there, mounting tabs and pipes will be the biggest problem. I will take some pics of the frame tongiht to post on here for people who haven't seen the 450 naked yet.

I have a 4mil stroker engine for sale if you are interested.  Passion 12port MX/woods port w/ a RZ tranny/backcut gears(not override).  Let me know if it interests you

Not really the kinda port job for the kinda riding i do. Not really fond of passion porting either. people seem to have way too hard of a time jetting them. I will keep you in mind if I can't get what I really want for the bike though. How much were you looking to get for it?
