I had a car battery powering a head unit, amps, component speakers, two 12's and a 15" sub. It was much easier for me to get my hands on car stereos opposed to home stereos at that time. Glad I'm not the only one who did that

It only worked at super low volumes since it only put out something like 20w. Then I upgraded to a home stereo, which was about 3 minutes before 5.1 came out. Fortunately the wife blew the subs out of this one this summer listening to some garbage shit music like Prince.....I was pissed at first because I told her it wasn't good for the stereo to play that crap, but then I saw what my sister and brother in law have. I think they have the 6.1 component system....can't remember...it just sounds really god damned good.

I had it setup like a car stereo shop, it's not like it was just a battery and head unit sitting there with a bunch of wires running all over to the different speakers. When you have an older brother that had all this "extra" equipment laying around, why go out and spend hundreds on a system you could build for damn near nothing? I've been building subwoofer enclosures for people since I was 12, I had to have a way to advertise my work considering I didn't have a car!!
