Rocket pipes vs. CPI inframes

There are many many debates over these pipes. Im sure if you did a search you would come up with 50 threads. But, I guess it all depends on what kinda motor you got. That dyno sheet is Locogato11283's. His motor seemed to like rockets better, but then again, you could do the same thing on a different motor with different port timing and it could go the other way. I chose to buy Rockets because I like the look of them, and not many people have them. IMO I think CPI's are ugly and plain looking and everyone has them. And some people think Rockets are ugly. Just personal preference really, each pipe will react different to different motors. Both are great pipes.

I run CPI's, and I admit, they are just a plane jane looking pipe, but they are a tried and proven performer, and I really have no complaints with them whatsoever. The only dyno sheet I've seen comparing CPI's and Rockets was loco's, and it's a pretty funky looking dyno plot. Ask 10 builders what they would recommend though, and I can pretty much guarantee an overwhelming majority would recommend the CPI's. Get what you want though. The odds are that they are gonna fall within a couple of hp of one another.

well if you ask some builders what piipes to run some will say GRR suicide pipes..and sorry to burst anyones bubble but they are the same thing as rockets. so in a sense, rockets are tried and a proven performer as well..just no1 knows them as rockets but rather as GRR suicide pipes. dyno sheet may have looked funky, but it was funky lookin for both cpi and rockets and rockets still made more power. i do agree that in most cases, they will make roughly the same amount of hp and itll prolly barely if at all be noticeable.

damn, here we go again. once again, I wasn't bashing rocket pipes. loco, you just admitted that your dyno sheet looked funky, so all I was saying, is that it's the only dyno sheet I'd seen where rockets performed better than cpi's. The fact that it was a strange plot made the results less credible to me, at least.

Fireman-Hott, again, I'm not bashing, but if the rockets put out more torque, then I'd think that there would be more plots showing this. I know people look at HP more than torque, but if you are putting out less HP, but more torque, it just means you are developing the power at lower RPM's.

I have no vested interest in promoting CPI's. In fact, I'll be checking out some other pipes next week. But they are recommended either number one or number 2 consistently by builders as the inframe to run. It must be for a damn good reason. If I got a set of rocket pipes this week, I'd dyno them too.

here we go again with what? i never said you bashed rocket pipes did i?? i admitted it was funky looking, but it was funky looking for both. so i dont see y its not credible?? and forthe record i never said rockets were better for every motor. it just so happens that on mine rockets were better. as far as credibilty goes, rick cairo and jeff wendorff were there that day and they didnt seem to mind the fact that it was funky looking...and they both build real fast shit..

what plots? ive only seen 2 dyno sheets i think. mine and wesw...are there other rocket dyno sheets out there??

but when ppl talk about out frames, GRR suicide pipes are mentioned quite often...same pipe...

ill tell you guys would would be a really good test is to take a dune ported 350 and a identical 4mill with average dune port timing of 198ex and a 130 transfer with the usual add ons goodies, like vforce 2's ,k&n intake ,33 or 35 pwk carbs ,20cc domes, then get yourself a set of rockets ,cpi ,and shearer inframes and make several runs on a modern winpep dynojet with low humidity and same dyno setup entirely. i and a million others would like to see those results
