Flat slide or round slide that is the question?

90% of peeps go with flatslides when upgrading. They are supposed to give better throttle response and flow better because theh have longer runners comming in/out of the venturi area due to the venturi area being shorter so the rest of the carb body can be longer. They cost a few $ more. Never compared though. I doubt the difference is that much though. Diameter probably makes more difference than round or flat. Kiehin uses "D" shaped slides too.

I did a keihn carb comparison last weekend on my mx ported stroker. With 28d slide pwk's ,34 flat slide pj's,35pwk d slides. They 28's had the most snap out of the hole but fell short compaired to the 34's+35's through the mid+topend. They 34's were much more difficult to dial in+they did'nt idle to well. The 35's were the clear winner.I thought the throttle responce from either pwk was superior to the pj's.

round slides work very good for torque and response on small displacement 2 cycle machines ,flatslides will give great response down low for their given carb bore sizes and allow alot of fuel to pass through for biggger bore machines ,so knowing all that... you can have the best of both worlds by running a D slide like the pwk line offers :)
