TSinclair
I am looking at pipes to start my mods. I am looking at the T5's with all the extras reeds vents ect. or the rocket pipes but they come with no extras. Would it be better to go with the rocket pipes and modify air box myself and get the vforce reeds or the t5's. I will be riding all year round in cold and hot mostly trails but sometimes dunes. any advise would be great. Thanks
2003LimitedBanshee
I can't speak for the Rocket pipes, but I'll throw in my 2 cents on the T5's. I've been running these for a while, and in my opinion they are little pipey for the trails I ride in. I've upgraded to Boyesen reeds, but haven't yet done the V-Force's, which I've heard clean up the midrange a fair amount. But I ride out in southern oregon, where the trails are more mountain trails, so the harder on/off of the pipe makes it kind of interesting. But I don't know about the Rockets... I'm sure somebody out here will be able to tell you how they come on. The T5's rock for dunes, and lend themselves really well to mods down the road. Good Luck! FASTOYS
A good starter pipe choice would be Pro Circuits or Fmf SSTs . They will work great for trail riding and some minor motor mods on down the line!
locogato11283
t5's all the way...
badlarry
T-5's a little pipey????????? (it's a shee dude anything you do to it will allow it to remain a little pipey.) That being said T-5's are what I run and they are a little pipey:) more so with the lid off and jetted up more. If you leave the lid on and do their jetting specs w/ the vents andm stuff you'll be pleased. This is the way I bought mine and since have done alot to the motor only to still think about jetting down and putting the lid back on!! Toomeys rock and their customer support is very good. midnite
I would go with pro circuts for trails. My 87 has t-3's, air box lid removed, pro flow, porting, shaved head, welded crank, and 330mains. This combo isn't too hot for the trails. Constant clutch feathering, and when it comes on the pipes, it's time to let off. On the other hand it's wicked hard core in the open. Love them toomeys in open spaces {maybe I'll try some rockets in the future}. My 99 has pro circuts, airbox lid removed, pro flow, porting, shaved head, 4 degree timing advance and 300 mains. This is a great combo for trails. Lots more mid range zip than the toomey set up. In open spaces my 99 is pretty fast , but my 87 will stomp it in 6th gear. Malott 1
If you are riding mostly trails you will really like the T5's. When I first bought my shee that is what it had on it and they were a real good all around pipe. I would definitly go with the v-force to. Oh and the T5's wont burn the crap out of you either. 2003LimitedBanshee
The only thing I was trying to point out was that there are other pipes out there that emphasize the midrange, and don't hit quite as hard on the top end. I actually liked mine stock for climbing old logging skids with birms in them, to my bike now with the T5's. But I love my T5's for the dunes. If you are riding tight, very technical trails, the T5's might be a little too on-off in my opinion. You really can't go wrong with the T5's, but if you do pretty much all trail riding, there might be a better pipe out there.
PassionRE
You should first try to forecast where you want to end up at with your list of mods. HP is very addictive and most people keep wanting more and more as they go along. First of all, REAL HP requires porting pure and simple, and a pipe that works best on stock cylinders will not be as effective on modified cylinders. If you think that down the line you will want this type of mod, keep that in mind on pipe selection. If you will take the time to make a quasi-accurate prediction on where you want to go with this project, you will end up with better results and save a ton of cash in the long run. Otherwise you will just be swapping back and forth and and draining your wallet constantly. Just be honest with yourself in the beginning and it will make everything else fall into place much easier and cheaper....Jim

When i bought my banshee I just wanted something to play around on, and hang out with some buds on the weekends. Now I have spent more money in mods than the original purchase price of the bike, and I just keep wanting to go faster. this banshee to me is like crack to a crackhore,

TSinclair
I have decided to get my porting done first. I am looking at gorr, only because I have not found anything near me in ontario canada. I have some time till racing is over so I am gonna do that first. Will the t'5's still be a good choice or should I look at another pipe. I will be riding all year so it is wet sometimes so no air box is not an option. does the k&n air filter lid work well. any other ideas for quick mods without changing to much of the motor. I run 94 octane with burris racing castor which is what I use in my shifter karts and I run the shee @ 40:1. Do you guys think that is too lean. I have not touched the jetting yet, basically I have only put an 1hr on the bike so far because racing is still to busy till nov. Thanks for the info Tim
