alcoholbanshee
I'm guessing Whitey will blow a lot of motors also during the development stage......if he does'nt he certainly is'nt pushing the motor. I race with a guy with a turbo 350 with nitrous. Very reliable motor when you consider 160+ horsepower. He breaks more second gears than anything! The only advantabe I can see for the fuel injection will be much better throttle response which in turn will spool the turbo faster!!! That is also the only problem I have seen with the turbos I have seen. They are turds out of the hole, but the top end charge is awesome. BigRed350x
I have a few streetbike motors that I picked up here in town. The problem is that I don't have any good frames to put them in. I'd like to build one just to ride down at walden on the hills. I have a yamaha FZ600 motor, and an R1 motor. Both run, have all the eletronics, fuel system, etc. I just can't afford a good frame right now. I thought about tearing apart my 450 and stuffing the R1 in there, but then I realized I would probably die. I think I will probably end up having to buy a Craptor like loco did and put it in there. Only problem with that is that I am nowhere near as good as him at modding stuff and getting it to work. It will probably turn into a huge disaster and I will get mad. I also have a turbo off an old (early 90's) subaru. Haven't figure out what I am going to do with it yet, but I have one! Anyone interested in a turbo? lol
alcoholbanshee
I always here this when people first see what I'm doing and I always ask them why its going to blow up and they never have a good answer. Boost doesn't blow up motors, people blow up motors. You are absolutely right.......I guess sometimes I assume everybody is in my world. I drag race quads, and if your not breakin shit you're not trying. We run on such a ragged edge that you break parts.....there is no way around it. I still bet you will go thru some parts. For instance do you have your cases o-ringed? If not you will suck tranny fluid and/or air and you will grenade your motor! Unless you keep it below 6-7 psi of boost. But what sense would that make....as you could make that kind of power with a set of good ported stock cylinders or out of the box cubs!!!!! I don't know maybe i'm just a know nothing mother f@#$er with nothing better to do than hang out on the computer all day and keyboard surf. I guess thats your call. RNBRAD
And if you want to sell that R1 engine, gimmie a holler. 413916[/snapback] Tempting is it? Man I don't think I would want to ride a liter engine in a quad frame. Too skeered. Can't hardly control them on the street.
