98bonerSTOCKshee
coming from dallas on I20 where exactly should we go, this will be our first to Kermit. I am thinking go up 115 off of 20.. Kermit looks bigger than Lil sahara look at the maps here.. make sure they are both zoomed the same.. Lil Sahara Kermit
axle
Glad to hear your coming out. the way you mentioned is a pretty straight route however they're small roads with not much in between. Personally I would go all the way to Odessa exit off on either west loop 338 and go north to Kermit Hwy (Hwy 302) then go west on 302 all the way to Kermit, or you could keep going past Odessa to 866 then go north till you run into kermit Hwy (Hwy 302) turn west till you get to Kermit. Once you get to Kermit you can stop at any store and fill up, use the restroom, fill up ice chest or whatever and they can point you to the sand hills. If you dont get the gaskets load up all the parts and bring them with you and we'll fix it in the trailer. Later
98bonerSTOCKshee
thanks for the offer axle, I got er put back together tonight, all except the rear fenders... Shee needs a bath big time, the damn krylon shit didn't with stand the elements the last few months, awfully ugly but shee's sounds great I can't wait! Decided to take a break from roundN all the other shit up. Screw it I am taking a lawnchair and sleeping bag and tools... We should be in a late model brown dodge pickup with 16 footR, My blue/white 98 with the bid ass headlights, and my bubbies red/yellow with a trinity... Hell look for the guy with the AFRO wig on around camp, Oh yeah where's the best spots located? Looking at the google maps I can see a concrete horseshoe road at the corner of 874 and 115 kermit map where to go from there? Anywhere in particular? What's the gas prices like there? axle
sorry I missed you I was having problems with the banshee (getting My Butt Kicked )and spent most of the weekend working on it or going on rides thru the dunes to keep friends & family off my butt. I did see your afro @ one point running down the side of the road but I didn't see were you went after that. Maybe next time! How did you like Kermit? 98bonerSTOCKshee
Don't know where to start. We finally arrived in Kermit at 420am. After 1 1/2 hr looking for WallyWorld in Odessa. Got to the dunes and was unsure where to set camp so we figure we would just sit on the shoulder til sunup. Got the truck stuck with the trailer hanging almost into the road.. Kinda worried but we left it til daylight. Woke up got the truck out and set up camp right near the intersection, We had tarps and canopy as a camp... All and all I think Kermit is better then Lil Sahara.. 1) if I take the wife and kids it's $32 a day just for riding fees at Lil Sahara. $0 at Kermit, this really adds up after a 3 day riding trip. 2) Kermit has alot more area to explore, we found places that hadn't been touch in ages and still didn't see near half of the place. 3) Kermit is alittle farther from Dallas than LIL Sahara not much only 60 miles or so. 4) Lil Sahara does have longer dunes than Kermit. With the wind this weekend the dunes were staying fresh and steep. Both about the same over all height. 5) People say that it get rowdy at Kermit because of no law enforcement, I say no need for it. The people there seemed to know each other it was like on big happy family. I see more crazy idiots at Lil Sahara, more accidents at Lil Sahara. 6) the idea of no water or power sucked but we had generator, and took "whore" baths as my buddy calls it. (money making opp. if someone was to take a 500 gallon tank of water and setup portable showers forthe primitive guys like me) I didnt realize Kermit is at 3000' elevation I should have jetted down alittle(600' here). I burnt my clutch up late Sunday afternoon running some drag races. But was still able to mosey around the dunes. My lights weren't very bright Sunday night so I opted not to ride at nigh (I got use to seeing daylight with those suckers). On the way home Monday the transmission went out in my buddies dodge near Colorado City, we were stranded 250 miles from home with 3 cell phones low on batteries with no chargers. Finally got his brother to drive out to get us in the box van. The plan was to load all the rides in the van and put the truck on the trailer. the truck didn't fit we left it. Started back on the road after 8 hrs of camping on the side of I20 about 2 am this morning I got home at 830am shit showered and headed to work 2 hours late!! Other than the truck screwing us it was an awesome weekend alittle hot mid day but not to bad.. And the shee was rockin... Pics and video to come.. check image and video forum... axle
I cant believe I missed you I was parked right in front of you. you were parked next to westexgt weren't you?
98bonerSTOCKshee
westexgt?? I didn't learn anyone's names... really wasn't parked near anyone. right out in the open. There was a family mom and dad and 2 or 3 girls, the oldest girl looked like she was 13 and on the way to hotness like her momma. These girls could ride. I watch her all weekend as she would jump on one of the banshee's they had, while daddy sat at camp most of the day. Finally she was heading out just as I was, I followed her around damn she rode some awesome lines though the dunes, she looked back and saw me then she really started riding. .. I stopped so I could get some vid. of her jumping but she wouldn't stay long enough in one spot. Boy does daddy have his hands full, momma rode just as good and the 2 other daughters were on their way.. If you by any chance know them let em know I got a few shots if they want them.. And anyone else you know that was out there, lots of vids of the drags... you should have missed my camp.. it doesn't get any redneck'er.. oh and Sunday just after dark that was me with the purdy blue and reds flashing behind me... Got excited that the speed limit was 75,I forgot that it was only 65 at night... The trooper let me go with a warning..
duecebanshees
Anyone know what the weather is like at kermit around Thanksgiving ? Any suggestions on where to stay ? Thinking about making a family trip out there around that time.
westexgt
I wasn't there for long. I did see the guy on a banshee with an afro. Thanksgiving at Kermit is awesome, weather last year was perfect. If you don't have a toyhauler, Kermit has a couple hotels, Nothing too fancy, but works. I am planning on going to Glamis thanksgiving, let me know if anyone is coming down be nice to get together for a good ride. I am guessing that Axle is Riley???? When are you planning your next trip to Glamis, been looking for a good reason to head up there. duecebanshees
Thanks for the info on Kermit. Should I expect it to be pretty crowded out there on or around Thanksgiving Day ?
westexgt
Thanksgiving day might not be too bad, but that weekend is very busy!!! Let me know if anyone is coming down, Glamis was put on hold, because the new buggies won't be done in time. Kevin
