yanks5164
im trying to get the most torque out of my banshee to make it better for motocross so which would give me the most torque and bottom end power a longrod crank setup or a stroker crank i am currently running dynoport 2into1 pipe proflow intake trinity 2into1 carb noss machine head w/19cc domes wiseco pistons speed freeks full port
locogato11283
sounds to me like you already have a ton of low end power. long rod wont increae power, it will simply increase reliability. 4mm crank will give you more power but youll have to redo the porting in your cylinders to make it work right. i persononally highly recommend eric gorr's woods port. itrs got awesome low end and midrange power. i dont know about the porting you have but by "full port" i think of top end... taldoc3
heavy flywheel=torque lightened flywhell= faster rev less bottom end
yanks5164
i thought a lighter flywheel would give more bottom end b/c is rotates faster basically which would b best for motocross

willow2679
The lighter flywheel gives more throttle response only the bad on it is that if you remove to much it stall easier than the heavier (the heavier one has more inertia that way it dosn
PUSH THE THROTTLE
I'm going out on a limb here but I bet that dirtwheels wasn't discussing the flywheel effect on a twin cylinder 2 stroke was it? Maybe more like a single cylinder thumper. A single thumper has a power stroke every 2 revolutions of the crank where as a banshee has 2 power stokes per revolution. The thumper uses the flywheel to aid in that revolution where there is no power stroke. What's the flywheel for on a banshee? Lights & ignition. reded
I'm thinkin a heavier flywheel would help in motocross as it would have less tendency to stall in sharp corners and improve traction coming out of corners (less tendency to light the tires up). If your hookin up your makin time on someone who isn't.
PUSH THE THROTTLE
The same concept applys on two strokes as well. 409776[/snapback] Ride a bike set up for MX with and without a lightened flywheel, then tell me which is better. I would never go back to a stock flywheel, mine never stalls and I got power on the throttle when ever I push it. It's a whole different ballgame on the twin, if it were a single weight would be better. One of the best investments I've made on my bike right up there with the single carb and Gorr port. I think I'll go out and remove as much weight as I can off my trail motor, while I'm at it I' ll throw some CPI outa frame drag pipes on it. Power when you push the throttle...Good concept.
