how much break in time?

Recommended Posts

Some say to give 3 or 4 warm up cycles and then slow ride a tank of fuel out of it and others say lay the throttle open as soon as it fires and leave it there while pullin gears outta the shop. WHO knows..........you just opened a can of worms!

Dont know how close breakin is to a vehicle engine but from what I have deduced it comes down to this.

Go slow take your time give it ample amounts of easy riding and the engine will be reliable for a couple more hours granting proper maint.

Slam the throttle and ride the fuck outta iot from day one and it'll need rebuilt a couple hours ride time sooner but will cause a better seat with the rings and wear and will actually add a couple hp on top.

Now thats with a vehicle and has been proven time and again, how much that converts over to atv cylinders is anyones guess. But if it means anything I dogged the shit outta my 03 when I got it and piped/jetted and couldnt blow that fucker for nothing. My buddies blaster which he went ther slow route blew after a good time but its air cooled not liquid like the shee.

2 gallons of gas with non synthetic oil at 32-1 to start off with...refrain from all-out top end runs through 6th until you have used the 2 gallons up. Keep an eye on head and cylinder fasteners and retorque after 30 minutes of riding. Forged pistons should be warmed up every time you ride the bike until you can feel heat through your gloves 12 inches away from the exhaust port on the sides of the pipes..otherwise, cold seizure may result. After that, mix up your favorite synthetic at reccomended ratio and rip it up and terrorize at will.....Jim
