vdubn
Working on my sons Banshee, 2001 freshly rebuilt last winter, .020 over, FMF (fattys I think), with Powercore silencers, K&N pods with no airbox. I got the ATV like this, so I had no idea how the jetting was, etc. (I assumed it was jetted correctly since the guy was close to sea level like me). Anyway, when we took it out, it really fluttered right off of idle. You really had to rev it and drop the clutch to get going. Once going, it was fine. Hardly any smoke coming out of the pipes once it was warm. I checked plugs and they looked fine, but I was still concerned that it might be running a tad lean. So, last night I pulled the carbs to clean them out and see what jetting was in there, and I found that it had 280 mains and 25 pilots (stock, right?). Shouldn't it be running more in the area of 310 mains and 27.5 pilots with the pipes and air filters? No head work (as far as I know). I am going to check the needle height tonight, can anyone tell me where the stock clip location should be? Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions. reded
25 or 27.5 pilots and raise the needles up a couple notches. Mine did the exact same thing when I bought it, I raised the needles all the way and it ran great.
vdubn
On my Banshee with Toomey's I run 310's, so I figured that his mains should go up from 280 at least a bit, but you don't think so? I was told that the FMF's don't need/use as much fuel as the Toomeys, so like a 290 or 300 would work well, with a 27.5 pilot. How many slots is the clip normally at? reded
Mine was in second from top. I don't know how the guy even rode the damn thing! I moved the clip to bottom position and it ran good, also ran 290 mains.
