naw HP is HP.

 

and the reason for that diff is cause of the RPM.  a diisel will only rev out to like 3500 - 4000.  instead of 9500 like that turbine.

Funny you mention that, I timed myself awhile back, dont remember the actual time, but it was just taking it off as I was doing a brake job on the ol ladys car.

 

Hp doesn't have to be a constant when related to torque. Just look at a lot of dynos.

What's the point of 300 ft lbs of torque? Wouldn't that just spin you around and around.  :lol:

well its not like 300 pounds of torque that comes on constantly. it comes on about 1400 blows per minutre so its like a vibration. and it only gets 300 in reverse, about 250 in forward. that way you can take off everything you put on. my other impact doesnt do that and it is a PITA.

Funny you guys mention porting, cause you actually can port them and make more power...23champ has a Blue Point that is mean as a mf'er. I think he put a drag port on it! Gotta be careful tho cause if ya go too far you'll ruin it.

all you gotta do is take it apart and you'll see the ports that the air travels through coming into the turbine and leaving it. Just drill them out a little bit bigger and try it. Go up a little bit at a time until you think its prolly maxed out and gonna start losing power.

 

I saw a guy at a former job port an Ingersol, and it would bust the head off a grade 8 3/8 bolt when it hit bottom.

I guess thats fine and all, but what if you happen to have left hand nuts that need torquing? :P

im gonna go out on a limb here... and say if you decide on "porting" your 3/8" impact ,you should probably look into a bigger model instead of dremeling out inlet air chambers for more power :D besides ,snap-on is the "cheetah " of power equipment anyways :P
