racer Posted August 5, 2005 Report Share Posted August 5, 2005 advancing timing simulates having more compression by causing the ignition to fire earlier than normal. the only real downsides are the possible need for more octane in your fuel. depending on your static compression you may or may not experience predetonation when using advanced timing. The same goes with retarding your timing it will give you more topend. Since banshees have tons to top already I have never heard of some one retarding the timing. +4 degrees is a good safe number for a banshee on gas.
