FMF fatties with stock engine

I just picked up some FMF fatties for my stock Banshee. These are used, but look decent...and way better than stock! I need silencers, but I hear I HAVE to use FMF silencers...is that correct?

Also, what else do I need to make the 'shee run right with the new pipes? Eventually, I'd like reeds, dual K&Ns...and whatever else comes with them. I'm trying to stay pretty mild as you can see. I'm just not sure if I can bolt up the exhaust and ride that way....or do I need to have a combination of mods to make everything work together.

I'm trying to search this stuff out, but not having much luck. Any help you be great!

You need to rejet before you start it up, also you can run fmf, or toomey t-5 (louder) silencers. Whats the temp. and the elevation your riding at? Do you still have the stock air filter?

How about T-6 silencers? I also will be riding in some forestry areas, and would rather not get busted...and suggestions there?

 

Temp is usually 70-80s, high elevations...8000' or so. I live in Denver, so I even start out at a high elevation, and ride in the mountains. I will also do some riding in Moab, UT...not sure of the elevation there, but temps in the 80-90s in the daytime.

 

Yep, stock airbox for now....but plan on adding dual K&Ns with covers on them.

just use the stock silencers for now, they are spark arrested and bolt up to fmf's. t6 silencers wont work only the t5 silencers do, t6 stingers are different. for jetting try a 250-270 main,27.5 pilot,stock needle third clip, air screw 1.5-2 turns out, and take off the snorkel from the lid.

If you ride threw any water I would keep your airbox and get THIS airbox kit and remove your lid. Whatever you do, you need to get some aftermarket filters asap. If you ride in the forst you will probley need FMF Turbinecore 2 spark arrested silencers. When you get the money, get a nossmachine coolhead with 20cc domes, and vforceIII reed cages, they will help you on your low end power.

Make sure you get a new filter K&N or aftermarket foam...Foam filters better but K&N gives more HP so it depends on your riding environment.

 

Your stock carbs should be fine but you might want to get the TORS removal kit to make them easier to jet. If you get new carbs I would go with 28's the stockers are 26, to me it is a waste cause you will have to buy larger carbs again when you get engine work.

 

You can buy a single K&N and Outerwear and remove the airbox lid. Youc an modify the stock foam filter holer flange or buy the overpriced billet adapter. I used the modified platic flang for years without any problems, if you want to know what I did PM me as I don't feel like explaining for no reason.

 

Depending on temp and elevation and AFTER you ditch the stock filter I would start with a 310 main your probably somewhere around 280 - 310 raise the stock needle jet by moving the clip down towards the tapered end 1 position, I ran a 320 at glamis for years but was a bit fat (not enough to fowl plugs or anything though) I would buy the filter NOW so you don't have to re-jet twice, it is somehting you NEED to learn how to do if you own a banshee, but it is a pain in the ass especialy with stock carbs. This might be off because environment is compleatly different from glamis.

 

When Jetting the stock carbs make sure you put the part that holds the needle back in correctly and reconnect the choke tube that connects the 2 carbs. The Needle Jet holder has a hole in one side of it so make sure you put it back in the same way you take it out.

I've never seen anyone around that would bust me for my silencers, so I might be okay with T5s or something...maybe I'll keep the stockers around just in case. Do the T5s and most FMFs have spark arrestors in them? Its dry as a bone here, and I'd rather not take the chance.

No, the t5 silencer is not spark arrested. You can get spark arestors for them, but that will cost alot more than just getting the fmf's.
