BudSicShee
DO THIS FOR REAL: 1. - If you have P2P Sharing- You're gonna have spyware, so get some type of spyware removal utility. Spysweeper works if you wanna buy it. Microsoft makes BETA Antispyware, available at their site- just search for it. $FREE$ 2. Mozilla is ad supported too- trust me, I know- DO NOT DOWNLOAD: Weatherbug Time Tracker Kazaa- Kazaa lite is better, but not much Lime Wire- SUCKS!!!- get Bearshare. 3. IF YOU'RE NOT LOOKING FOR IT- DON'T DOWNLOAD IT. How much simpler could that get? 4. Now- the fun part: Terminating Stay Residents - (Background Files) Shut your computer down- When it comes back on- and you see your "manufacturer" logo- or Black Screen- Start TAPPING F8. This should bring you to Advanced Options- Highlight "Safe Mode" - Using your arrow keys, and press enter. Enter on Windows XP/98... whatever OS you're on. Choose the Administrator Profile. Click YES to continue running in Safe Mode. Start>Run>MSCONFIG - Click the Startups TAB Disable ALL- Now - Re-enable your Antivirus Software- If you don't know what it is, it will prompt you that it isn't running when you restart, so don't worry. Apply and Close- EXIT WITHOUT RESTARTING- We've got more to do. Now- you're computer probably won't take as long to let you access certain things upon startup.- I hate that shit. Now- Find your Internet Explorer Icon- "lowercase blue "e" Right click on it- Select, Internet Properties. On the General Tab DELETE COOKIES DELETE TEMP FILES- AND PUT A CHECK IN OFFLINE CONTENT BOX. Click the Advanced Tab- Under "Browsing"- look for "Enable 3rd Party Browser Extensions" Take the Check OUT of the box- this WILL take off any added toolbars, ie Yahoo, Google, etc. - I know for a fact that Google, is NOT ad supported- so it's safe. Apply, and OK- Then Restart your computer into Normal Windows. * YOUR COMPUTER SHOULD NOW OPERATE NORMALLY I'm a Support Technician for eMachines- and YES, Our computers SUCK So i deal with ALOT of problems. 98bonerSTOCKshee
were you downloading porn? I have been using Limewire for a while. you gotta get pro though. no ads. I have no viruses or spyware or anything. I have a link for pro somehwere I think. 389079[/snapback] I was suppose to be downloading sometype of offroad vid I think.. Don't trust none of the porn from there... I have how ever learned the other day to download a large file that has multiple users, it's suppose to make the d/l run alot faster on Limeware. STLBILL
I was just thinking how hard it is to enjoy a computer if you aren't a freaking geek-a-zoid brainiac with no social life. I'm allowed to say that because I've been one for a real long time. Brooke: I'm with you and the Linux guy. If only they would "catch on" the way Windows has. I'm afraid the new "Apple-Intel alliance" is going to make things worse. Edited July 14, 2005 by STLBILL
