macgillivary
i guess i should specify more when you take it off do you put the bike in gear or what? cuz i cant get enough tension to get that nut off, had my back brakes on, and nothing and im not sure about putting it in gear but i imagine if i did it would just move the bike, or if you put it against something i would say its on there tight enough it will just spin the tires ya know i read where somebody did it before with the spark plug wrench or somethign in the stock tool kit but i couldnt figure out how that would work i couldnt find that topic either. hopefully that person will see this soon enough
wesw
from past experience your are basically PISSING UP A ROPE with out a impact. its really hard to remove it. borrow one from a neighbor or shit take it to any shop or dealer of any thing like a car place and see if they can spin it off for you. best of luck but is a bitch with out an impact
macgillivary
haha alright thanks ill have to take it to a shop borrow theirs for a couple minutes to pop it of,f though do you put the bike in gear or what? i dont wanna mess anything up when i do this and have never done it before so i wanna know all the steps, thanks
jmoore
It is hard to do but I have done it without an impact. You will need a strap wrench and an extra set of hands. Have someone hold the flywheel tight as they can with the strap wrench and you take your socket wrench and a big mofo breaker bar and giv-r hell. ( My breaker is like 4 feet long ) Use the reverse process for putting it back on using a torque wrench. It can be done, just do it!! dajogejr
Throw it in the back of your truck...take it to a local tire repair store. It literally takes 2 seconds with a gun. Change it in the parking lot...set the air gap, then have them zap it back on. Give the mechanic a 5 or a 10 spot for a 6'er of beer...they'll more than be happy to oblige. You'll spend less time doing that than the hard way, not to mention...you won't risk damaging it.... Good luck!
2001 929
easy without an impact also, just make a holding tool which goes in the holes of the flywheel(not to deep where it hits the stator), put a handle on it and its all over.

dajogejr
Yep...You can only reef on a long bar for so long trying to keep the wheels from creeping up your leg...before you bust out the air for literally 2 seconds. Sure is nice... Do yourself a favor...have 'em zap it back on, too...
