89Steeda
All depends on mods, tires where you are gonna ride(sand, dirt) ect.....

locogato11283
if you go any longer than +6 you are gonna feel like you are driving a limo. and since you say you want to drag it im assuming straight paddles or some grippy ass street tires, neither of which will allow you to turn all that easily. what motor are you building? i have a 90hp cub motor and i run a +4 for dirt hillclimbs. i dont have a problem keeping the front down even with cut hillclimb tires. how much do you weigh? that will also play a part in how long you should go. chase@miamiatv.com
i weigh 140 lbs , the bike is going to be for mainly street drag / cruising on the trails ( soft compacted dirt ) . going to be running two sets of tires one street tires and one mud sharks that are worn down big time ( depending no where imt aking the bike ) ........ The motor i have is a 30 over ported n polished drag port , 2 to 1 carb vforce reeds , timing plate , str8 cut gears . tranny override shift mod , rev box , cpi drags uhmm probly something else im forgetting . However as soon as i finish the bike im buying the chettah top end kit . thats defintly planned in my shee . so now im debating from a +6 to + 8... you cant get your bike to lift up with a 6 over ? and your running a cub ? I've built them for all out drag bikes as long as +10, and for my project I might go as long as +12. A +6 will be as long as you want to go if you want to do some kind of duning etc. I dont' know what you ride, but in the sand, a +6 is about it. Anything longer is usually reserved for all out drag bikes. +4 is really good for all around, but if you are putting alot of HP to the ground you'll either need to nut up on the handle bars, or go longer on the swingarm. wayfst
i run a 6" swing on sand with 450 stroker motor on nitous and i ride more than i race, but, here's the problem- off the line with 22" with staight ten pattles i blow out and just spin if the sand is loose. so even with you on the street, you may just sit on the line and spin with an 8 over. think of this- if you move your front wheels foword it will add weight to the front and keep it down, then you can run a shorter swing and have more traction. now it's a clutching game, three soft springs and a lock out should let it slip a little off the line and lock when your rpm's come up. then we can get into the whole weight transfer thing- but not now. it's hard to build a dual purpose bike, but i wouldn't go over a 6" swing and would try to run a 4 or 5 on street. good luck

Ducman
Like mentioned above, go +6 at the most to maintain some decent turnability.
