Jetting perfect but tons of smoke?

Recommended Posts

I just rejetted and at WOT and 1/8 throttle I get a nice tan brown plug but meantime it smokes out the silencers and also has alot of oil coming out. How can the plugs be perfect but the silencers still smoke and drip oil?????????????? Also I am using a twist throttle and removed the TORS , so how do I adjust the idle now. It starts ok if I give it some throttle but when I let go it will stall out.

My 2000 Banshee never did that!!! It drips alot of oil and even splatters all over my rear # plate, you can't tell me thats normal for it to smoke and drip oil if the plugs come out a perfect tan brown.

What ratio are you mixing your oil and gas?

24 to 1 holy hell thats a thick ratio

i run mine at 64 to 1

run a good oil and change that ratio and it will go away

Well I did think that 24:1 was a rich mixture but thats what the Clymer's manual suggested. I'll try 40:1 and see what happens. Also how can I adjust my Idle when there is no Idle screw now that I removed the TORS????????

Buy a Idle Screw Kit and install it. I bought the TORS removal kit from Vitos, but sounds like you only need the Idle Screw Kit.. they sell it too.

You will have to dill & tap both carbs.. but its pretty simple.

holy hell.......did i read someone was running a 64 to 1 ratio......

what planet do you ride on....lol.

any banshee should be ran anywhere between 30-1 to 40-1

unless i am in left feild........heehee

new run it at 24-1.......but only for break in...

then run at 36-1.........that is a nice area to be:)

it also depends on the oil. the "key" is to read the back of the oil bottle and it'll give a range of ratios. as long as your in that range, you should be fine. for instance, amsoil has an oil that is rated for 100:1 and there's been several peeps on here running the 100:1 with zero problems. Me, I'm more of a 40:1 guy, but just using that for an example.

Read the back of the oil, as long as your within the range, your good.

all depends on the oil

i typically run amsoil and the bottle says 50-100

i have heard of guys running drag bikes as lean as 128 to 1 on that stuff with not a single problem after multiple seasons fo use

i like 64 though its easy just 2 ounces in a gal

its also what the owner of the shop i go to runs in his personal toys

he just now did a top end on his KDX 250 after 4 years and it is ridden every weekend

this is one guy that racks up quite a few hours on his toys

evan runs 64 to 1 in the track bikes RG500 and TZ250
