tripple rate or dual rate?

whats the difference between tripple rate and dual rate front shocks? I'm hearing that dual rate shocks are better for mx, but thats it. what would be better for recreational trail riding. what are the advantages/disadvantages of each.

when I ordered my works they talked me into the dual over tripples -said unless your jumping huge you will never even benefit. I could be wrong but I believe the top red spring found on the tripples is stiff but anyways I saved alittle going w/ the duals and spent the rest to have 'em w/ remote ressies. I think dual is plenty for trail and decent jumping. I noticed a big difference over stock and I have works which is the bottom of the barrell. I can't imagine how sweet a set of real good shocks would be.

goodluck and shop around.

i jsut bought the full set of elkas for the cbr600rr raptor. the fronts are triple rate fully adjustable piggy back rezzie for 850..the rear is a dual rate with remote rezzie that i paid 850 for...them bitches are bad ass. i dont think they offer dual rate for raptor but my banshee elkas are dual rate.

I think the dune edition elkas w/o rezzies are $450.00 from Sanddragon.

439.99 from sanddragon.

the banshee shock is only like 14"s so their is not enough lenght to go with a triple rate and see any benefit. A triple would be better if the shock was longer. Like on the hondas which are 16.5"s you have enough room to fit a set of variable springs to benefit.

I like the elkas better because of the ride height adjustability is much easier, and they have a higher resale value if you for some reason down the road decide to sell the quad.

Plus when you go to rebuild them you can always add the reservors and get super plush suspension. the elka has 5/8" chromoly shafts also which are very beefy.
