8HONDO
i am running a 1999 shee with cut head, port, polished, +4 timing, stock carbs , cut flywheel and rocket pipes. i had them running perfect in the winter but my jetting for summer is screwed. currently have 360mains, stock pilot and 1 1-2 on the air screw. 3rd from the bottom on the needle. the thing runs perfect on top but when i am running down low i get a terrible bog. could this be my needle position. if i am on the pipe it is great. but low end seems like i am getting to much fuel. what should i do with my needle clip? bigboybanshee
I always thought a bog was not enough gas and a sputter was too much gas I'd do one of two things first. Richen your needle one clip or move to one size bigger on the pilot jet. You could end up doing both in the end but of course, only make one jetting change at a time so you know what each change affected.
rocketboy
bog and hesatation are sometimes hard to tell apart at lower rpms ,luckily you have the easiest jetting problem to fix ,heres how i do it:warm the bike up... pull the chokes out half way ride it around the yard testing with chokes pulled out and pushed in .if it runs better with the chokes out half wa y your pilots too lean if runs even worse your pilots are too rich .personally i think your pilots are to small and starving .also set your needle in the middle for this test ,the choke trick never lies and its noticable (confirmed lean or rich)by the seat of the pants too! wesw
put the needlein the 4th clip and you might have to lower your main like to a 340 for being warmer and less air.
